Also confirming that the bowling Tom Rogers is in fact a better batsman than the batting Tom Rogers

This might be my favourite game of the tournament so far.
I thought the one other night where the Stars got up was pretty good but this might top it. The match seemed over. Record partnership from Sullivan and Rogers who both beat their previous highest scores in the process.

Enough has been said about JFM and I hate to pick on players especially when they're so young, but that shot tonight really summed up just where
he's at. To slash at that ball, just short of a good length and just outside off pretty much says it all. He's mentally fizzled.
Only a fool would say that he'll never be any good, but he badly needs some time off even if it's just a week or two to have a breather and think things
over. As we saw with Allen it only takes one good innings to turn things around in this format but he's now at the point where he has to have a break.
The selectors can do him and the Renegades a big favour but I'd bet any money they're not even contemplating that.

I'd wait until after the IPL and see where his game is at. It's amazing how players can find something in reserve for that competition and the loot it presents.

Hot take: I'm more of the opinion now more than ever that JFM is not even that skilled, he's just an above average grade cricketer that plays extremely high risk cricket and as a result of this and the rare times it's come off he's frauded his way into position he clearly shouldn't be in.

Like most proper 2nd XI batsmen around the country could just start playing dumber and higher risk cricket and be just as good, if not better. But this kid has hacked his way into national teams

I said exactly this about Brendon McCullum partway through his career. He made me look like a ****ing idiot immediately after for quite a while.

He scored three tons in three youth Tests against SA U19 (NZ only batted 3 times) that people still talk about as a freak show this many years on. He was always going to make it, just had to be mature enough to work out how on a consistent basis

Could well be right. I didn't see his IPL last year, he must have had some level of consistency and quality there?

My take on him is that he can play shots but has no defensive game, and also seems like far too arrogant and simple minded to figure out a way with what he has. If you're fawned over as much as he has been, I've got no doubt it's harder to muster the motivation to get better. Especially now he's set up in the IPL

So my boy Jake (not McGurk) is down under for a holiday and recently his brother got chicken pox which actually allowed him to stay an extra week
because of the quarantine rule about getting back to school. We decided to come to Sydney and I got a BnB right in the middle of Bondi beach.
Now to say that it's been disappointing so far would be somewhat of an understatement. It hasn't stopped blowing and raining for nearly 36 hours
and the forecast for the next 4 days is no different. Tonight's game in Sydney may be the other side of town but I'd certainly be surprised if we can
get a completed match. Just the thought of dishing out nearly $500 a night for this **** feels crippling and I'm already wishing that we'd gone to
Melbourne or the Gold Coast. @Burgey has some serious questions to answer for this dross.

Proper pelting down near where the Thunder's Home Ground is - if it keeps raining like this, the game won't get on
