Yeah if either of Lyon or Murphy was a left armer or a leggie I think they'd be quite happy with what Head offered as a third spinner, but Murphy is better than Kuhnemann by too much to just roll with the latter as the second spinner and they're not going to make use out of three right arm offies. That's why they're interested in Connolly so much to bat 6/7 and bowl some pies I think.

They inexplicably picked him as a bowler in the T20 and ODI tours to England a few months ago so there's somewhat of a precedent of sling-shotting him into the frame where he doesn't really fit

They didn't "pick him to be a spinner" initially for those tours? They just ended up having him bat 8 because a ton of the bowlers weren't fit/rested. Pretty sure in one of the England t20's we weren't sure if wede be had 11 fit players in England.

i gotta say i really don’t like mcjerk (that much is known) and i have to think the reason is he’s the physical embodiment of tiktok adhd cricket, zoomer cricket not the real game

but brown’s a different type of slogger, he has the vibe of (albeit a much more talented version) that bloke who carts your club team around the park, man is a real roadgrader. there’s something sort of endearing about it like seeing george rose still going around and doing good in 2012
