Cricketer Of The Year
That KFC ad with Usman and Starc is a metaphor for the summer. The batsmen fluffing their lines and rescued by a bowler.
Both the tests being at Galle, I wouldn't be fussed with only one specialist fast bowler again, if that's what ends up producing the strongest team. He's absolutely a better bowler, but whether he's so much better a bowler that it outweighs the fact that Connolly is a decent bat is tricky when you're talking about the third spinner. Ideally you want an all-rounder in that role.
If Green is fit and bowling again I wouldn't be picking another quick on top of Cummins. Both the tests being at Galle, I wouldn't be fussed with only one specialist fast bowler again, if that's what ends up producing the strongest team.
Yeah and if that's the case you definitely want an actual bowler instead of Connolly. Connolly should absolutely not be selected to bat 8 and be a frontline bowler. Hell I'd sooner pick Andrews to do that!If Green is fit and bowling again I wouldn't be picking another quick on top of Cummins.
Pretty sure he won't be. Think it's a six month recovery. If Green is fit and bowling again I wouldn't be picking another quick on top of Cummins.
Still not heard a lot about the timeframe tbh, but it'll be touch and go.Pretty sure he won't be. Think it's a six month recovery.
I suspect they're looking at the half million spin bowling all-rounders who make important runs from 7 and 8 for India and thinking "hmm we'd like some of that". See also their attempts to make Ashton Agar a Test cricketer as well.Yeah and if that's the case you definitely want an actual bowler instead of Connolly. Connolly should absolutely not be selected to bat 8 and be a frontline bowler. Hell I'd sooner pick Andrews to do that!
They're definitely plotting it though.
Any ground which requires an attack like that shouldn’t hold international matches. A jokeBoth the tests being at Galle, I wouldn't be fussed with only one specialist fast bowler again, if that's what ends up producing the strongest team.
If the pitches are going to be like that just stack the batting tbh. Cummins, Green to bowl seam & Lyon, Murphy to bowl spin and the rest batsmen with Head or Webster or whoever capable of bowling some overs. If Green is fit and bowling again I wouldn't be picking another quick on top of Cummins.
I just realised that the tour is literally in four weeks so yeah Green won't be available. Apparently Cummins might not be either? If the pitches are going to be like that just stack the batting tbh. Connolly could even play batting at 8 while not being required to bowl too much anyway.

This XI has too many spin bowling options if anything. Probably would pick Starc ahead of one of them given how well he did in Sri Lanka in 2016 and that he could potentially be one fast bowler that could be impactful in those conditions with reverse.
Yeah this is what I just read.I'm guessing Starc is likely to play if/when Cummins takes parental leave anyway.
I think Starc would have played anyway because Green won't. They'll probably just replace Marsh with Connolly.Yeah this is what I just read.
They'll have way too many offies in the side if they do that (Head is a legitimate wicket taking option too). Need someone who turns the ball awayMarsh should be replaced by big beau webster. Bowls better offies than coopes.
Yeah if either of Lyon or Murphy was a left armer or a leggie I think they'd be quite happy with what Head offered as a third spinner, but Murphy is better than Kuhnemann by too much to just roll with the latter as the second spinner and they're not going to make use out of three right arm offies. That's why they're interested in Connolly so much to bat 6/7 and bowl some pies I think. They'll have way too many offies in the side if they do that (Head is a legitimate wicket taking option too). Need someone who turns the ball away
Agreed but tbf, the Australian test team would improve if they replaced MMarsh with Maxwell todayMaxwell's catch...just genuinely freakish. Such a shame the top two inches stopped Maxwell from reaching his peak for longer than moments or a season here and there - don't think there's a talent to rival him in his generation.
