Good to see Mushfiqur Rahim getting a run...I played against this guy about a month or two ago when he was still playing for the U 19 side. He is all class, however very small...good to see that he spent a bit of time in the middle too...

Bangladesh 125/5 now. That bloke Yardy's doing alright, he has followed up his 257 with 3/41!

Wow, this 16 years old Mushfiqur Rahim scored 63. No wonder, why Gurdian and other web sites were praising about him.

Last wicket pair scored 45 runs. The rest of the batsmen should learn form these two young players.

Before today, Michael Yardy had played 43 first-class games, with 2141 runs at 31.93. His highest score was 115, and he'd made 3 centuries and 10 fifties.

He'd bowled 107 overs, and taken five wickets at 131 apiece, with best figures of 1-13, an economy rate of 3.50 and a strike rate of 224.

Against Bangaldesh, he made 257 and took 5-83.

Either Mike's the new Andrew Flintoff, or Bangladesh have had an absolute stencher.

Did say in the paper he was looking to work on slow left arm, he's probably a better option than Batty :p

Anyway, its a bit misleading to quote his career average considering this season he's scored centuries against Hampshire and Surrey, and 88 against Warwickshire and a fifty against Notts.

I think Yardy has been one of the outstanding county players of the season so far. He has hardly failed yet. Be interesting to see if he will get a longer run in the first XI. If he continues to do well, I'll pencil him in for a surprise Ashes call-up once the third specialist batsman breaks down :).

i know everyone is saying that Bell is a justifiable selction in the test squad over KP and i agree, but KP must be the frist batsman in history i reckon who scores 3 centuries on tour and then miss out on being selected in the test squad the following season

I dunno about that... Im sure there would be some OD specialists around that have that accolade.

Now where have I seen that quote before, believe it was Mr Botham having a moan about the selectors actually doing the right thing.

Mushfiqur Rahim...absolute quality.

Lacks size, but defintely a competitor. I questioned whether he could step it another level but he proved in this match that he is going to be a real player of the future.

Not likely.

Against the great Sussex bowling attack of Jason Lewry, Luke Wright, Johannes van der Wath and Matt Yardy? Let's wait till he plays Tests first, shall we?
