well well well Symonds had a good 1st day, a duck off 15 balls and 3 overs for 20.

If warne or gillespie bowls well than Australia have a chance, otherwise, is gonna be very very tough

Full credit to the SL team for taking it to the Aussies .... Australia would be all out for 150 if sheppard called for the 3rd umpire when Hayden was only 19, and Dilshan held on to Lehman on 31.
Bold assumption.

I think Warne will get there first because he's got an innings in hand at present :)
well it's not as easy for Warne anymore.....he only leads by a margin of 1 after Murali's 6 wicket haul yesterday!:P

Lehmann's dissmissal came as tried to out fox Murali and taught him a lesson about walking around his crease.

Jayawardene batted well but got out with a stupid shot.

I think Sri Lanka will be looking for a lead of 250-300 if possible, and back themselves for an innings win. It is possible.

306 for 5... The Sri Lankans lead by 86 with 5 wickets in hand. You can stick a fork in the Aussies - they're done.

No excuses - Ponting won the toss, but if this game proves anything, it's that the Australians' fragility on turning pitches is alive and well.

And I'm still pretty confused about Ponting's usage of MacGill in this test. He's bowled less overs at this point than Symonds, for crying out loud, and it just seems insane that on a wicket that's super dry and turning, he's bowled the least of the recognized bowlers.

Go the Sri Lankan collapase!

Go Warne getting the last 4!

Go Hayden and Langer being not out tommorow this time!

Australia have to play smarter especialy when they bat.

Going all out attack will not work when the pitch is slow and turning so much they need to establish themself's longer before they start attacking.

I think our arragance is realy costing us we have been unprepared to change our approch to batting in the subcontenet. It was the same in India.

and heres to all u guys who thought ponting was a great captain....england performed better than the aussies in their first test without any decent ODI series to warm up!!

what the hell are you talking about!?!?

How is it Ponting's fault his batsman stuffed up?

It's a way to early to make any judgments on his test captaincy and this match is not even at the half way point yet !!

ah well......SL have a 132 run lead so far and with 4 wickets left in hand, they would be hoping for about 200-250 lead before losing all their wickets or declaring......up hill from here!!

if australia can get them out in the next 50 or 60 runs..they have a chance,as long as the batsman buckle down and get to a great start, which they are capable of doing...you never know...Sri lanka chasing 150 to win on the last day, could go either way

Enlighten me...

Who is the better team out of England and Australia?

Its not Ponting's fault that the rest of the Australian batsman stuffed up, however it most definitely is his fault for his ridiculous shot. That weak dismissal may be very crucial in this match because Ponting looked like he was ready to dominate Murali and co. That dismissal opened the window, and once Martyn was out it was downhill for the Aussies.

Surprised no one has mentioned Dilshan's ton, thats brilliant. No one would of seen that coming and Jayawardene played brilliantly as well.

symonds has spent the vast majority of his career as a one day specialist ;)
Rubbish!...yet another misguided assumption and an obvious atempt to spray Symonds. His one-day domestic record for Queenlsand is nothing short of pathetic, he was in danger of being dropped from the Queensland one-day team last year. The only thing that was keeping him in the side was his first-class performances. I will agree with most people in saying that Symonds first-class average is not that 'crash hot' but it has been improving every year, to the point IMO he is better in the longer form of the game.

Hard to tell at the current moment. Both very weak in bowling, Murali takes both apart...

Yes indeed, It's quite surprising that nothing much has been mentioned of Dilshan's excellent innings .... especially how his casual treatment of Warne on a wicket "deisigned for turn". He has definitely suprised a lot of people. I was also quite impressed of Samraveera's solid defence against the "new ball".

Needless to say ... the first two day's points go to SL (undisputed) !
