First of all, I probably agree with you about Marto's batting position. I think 5 would be more appropriate, but I was talking about his position in the team in general.

When did I ever say it was the reason Katich was dropped? I said it could be part of the reason. AND I said it wasn't justified, so lay off already would you and stop putting words in my mouth.
Lay off? I'm not having a go at you, but you probably shouldn't "blah blah" Katich's form. Taking brilliant batting like that for granted isn't smart at all. I understand loyalties to a player but the line has been crossed with Martyn. It's not just Martyn's poor form, its Katich's awesome form. But I guess that's "blah blah" as you eloquently put it.

So..Symonds starts with a test duck.

Warne is going ok, he needs to try & stick with Lehmann as long as possible.

Sorry, it just sounded like you were having a go at me.
As for the blahblah comment, I was actually just shortening what I wanted to say. As in hes done very well, hit a century in his last test, hit a cenutry in the tour match, ect. In other words what people would have said if I hadnt of said it. I wasnt blowing him off.

PS There is no line when it comes to Marto, sorry.:P

Katich is very unlucky to not be in the team. He hasn't done anything wrong at all. That's crazy.
Agreed.

Tempting to me may have been to drop MacGill from that 11, bring in Katich to bat 6 and move Symonds to 8...

People think the selectors were harsh on Love but this is worse.
I suppose at least in a way the Love situation could be explained (direct replacement for Lehmann would be required to be the back-up spinner)

Is Symonds now ahead of Katich as he can bowl a bit of medium pace in addition to his spin?

If so, bring back Funky instead of MacGill and play Katich!

Yes, but once he was given the chance he did very well and has certainly outperformed Damien martyn

As for Katich, lets remember he was a fill in for Lehmann.. yes he did very well and blahblah, but Lehmann is back. Im not saying its justified, but it could be part of the reason hes out.
Lehmann is back, but Waugh is out, so a direct replacement for Waugh would be someone who is primarily a batsman but can bowl a few overs medium pace?

If so than, that's why Symonds is playing!

In a way it all makes sense, although some people would be calling for Watson for that role...

Have 7 batsmen, 1 keeper and 3 bowlers?

Are you seriously suggesting we pick Symonds mainly for his bowling

We'd be better off just picking Lee (who's way better than Symonds medium pacers) & having Lehmann/Katich bowl the spin....IMO Lehmann is a better spinner than Symonds full stop & Katich is a better bet in the longer form of the game.

I wonder what is poor form?

He's only been out for less than 20 once in over a year.

His last 2 series have been 42 averages.

He missed the annual average boosting against Bangladesh as well.

If you're going to call for his head, why not 2 years or so ago, when he averaged 29.20 and 30.25 in 2 series.

Since then it's over 40!

I am ****ed I honestly would be feeling like crap right now if I was Katich.

I would love to know how the selectors went about explaning the whole situation to Katich because I cant work out there Logic.

He just bowled Lehmann too. Lol I think you've jynxed him, in a positive way unless you're an Aussie ;)

I maybe wrong but last I heard Funky was playing for Holland. Would mind him back on the Australian scene though even with the hair.

Symonds will need to get a couple of wickets now otherwise Kaitch might return to the Aussie XI.

Lehmann out for 63.

Not a good start for Ponting as captain.

Aus 220-8. I predict 240-250 what AUstralia will make at best.

And another one goes.

Methinks the English tail could teach these clearly inferior Australians a thing or 2 about batting against Murali! ;)

With Warne and Lehmann coasting along, I thought we might be a good chance for 300. Now it's unlikely the Aussies will get to 250. This might put paid to Ponting's unconvincing protestations that Murali doesn't pose much of a threat to the Australian batsmen.

I guess it'll come down to Warne, McGill and the Aussie bowlers now - but things aren't looking the greatest.
