Bowlers get to bat too, though.tbf a bowler to batsman comparison in terms of impact is unfair just because the bowler can only impact 10% of the game while a batsman can impact 50%.

No bowler can have the amount of impact an opening batsman can in ODIs.Bowlers get to bat too, though.

Nah, bowlers can negatively impact by travelling for plenty. You can easily adjust in your methods.tbf a bowler to batsman comparison in terms of impact is unfair just because the bowler can only impact 10% of the game while a batsman can impact 50%.
Yea but by definition a bowler can only bowl 10 overs while an opening batsman can technically bat for 50. Out of a total 100 overs.Nah, bowlers can negatively impact by travelling for plenty. You can easily adjust in your methods.

A batsman could get out first ball and his match is over. A bowler could get smashed into the stand first ball and still get 59 chances to influence the game with the ball.Yea but by definition a bowler can only bowl 10 overs while an opening batsman can technically bat for 50. You know, you're right. I was pointing out the 10% vs 50% in terms of potential match impact based on possible overs, but in practice, bowlers actually have similar (or maybe even better) impact levels on average to batsmen in ODIs - especially when you consider win shares as a metric to compare them:What even
A bowler can make an impact during only 10%, but the impact itself can be far greater because of the fact that you can get people out, which as a batsman you can't apart from hitting someone out of the attack.
If you go by win shares, Murali had way more impact on average than Dilshan, but it looks like bowlers are able to make a match impact easier (with a couple wickets) than a batsman (who needs to make a big score/fast score).Dilshan was a fantastic ODI opener, but we are going overboard if we're saying he had more impact than Murali.

When Suranga Lakmal has a bigger win share over Kumar Sangakkara, that is an indication that you have to tweak your methodologyIf you go by win shares, Murali had way more impact on average than Dilshan, but it looks like bowlers are able to make a match impact easier (with a couple wickets) than a batsman (who needs to make a big score/fast score).
