Herchelle Gibbs is successfully one of the greatest openers of the modern era any team he plays in he should always open he and gary kirsten alongside hayden langer marvan and sanath are one of the greatest opening combinations in history for gods sake he averages nearly 50 in test cricket as an opener smith should bat at 3 so he doesnt get caught in front or bowled by to predigious inswingers to the left handers kasper and lee
I somehow can't remember Gibbs being good at opening at all, but looking at his stats you are correct. He is avg. more than 50 opening, so why did they change him? I still think he is more suited for the #3 job. Perhaps thats what the coach thinks :)

Even though MacGill bowled fairly well againts SA in Australia i sorta felt that SA graudually improved a bit againts playing the spin twins & with Symonds being the all-rounder i'm not convinced about his bowling at all, so for me i would go for Tait at Cape-town & the majority of the series.

...
Not me. I think there's a big gap between MacGill and our 3rd best quick - as shown in the Ashes. Also, and this is not directed at anybody on here imparticular, but I've never understood why the pitch has to be a raging turner for a second spinner to play. As far as I'm concerned, unless it's an absolute greentop, then a second spinner who is able to turn the ball on most surfaces anyway (such as MacGill) should play if he is a better bowler than your 3rd best quick.

Nothing new there. Warne always a big mouth and Smith is not one to back down.

Lets see what happens on the field, all this talk and no action from people are getting boring.

We've banned people from talking about Warne but I'll give an interview about him.

Good grief these guys are dumb!

Talk about playing straight into Warne's hands - again!

Pollock and Nell looking like doubtfull starters :| Not good, what shall we do.

Argh !!
Well if that's the case, then Ntini will have one hell of a job to do on his lonesome. Those two players are critical and if they are missing then South Africa don't stand a chance. Garnett Kruger, Andrew Hall, Nicky Boje et cetera won't cause too many problems.

It's perplexing because there is some rather decent bowlers in South Africa and it's hard to comprehend how someone like Kruger is above Charl Willoughby (for example) in the pecking order.

yea i back Kasper to do well, but you sure Dizzy never lead Australia attack, what about vs WI 2003, Ind 2003/04 (even though not fully fit) & SRI 2004?
...I never said he didn`t lead the Australia attack.

If it keeps Clark out of the team, it's a blessing. Lee, Kasprowicz, Warne and MacGill is certainly the best attack Australia has at its disposal right now anyway. Should Kasprowicz fail, or a third seamer be needed later in the series, I'd rather see Tait picked.
