well i just finished watching back the entire game that i taped & well its impossible to know what to say about Australia's batting TBH this is Australia's most heaviest & most embarassing defeat in OD since that Champions trophy Semi-final clash vs Sri Lanka in 2002:ph34r: . I want to blame the conditions under lights a Newlands but i cant SA were great with ball.

As Gilly said in the interview Australia need to just forget about this & look towards the rest of the series. Obviously we neeed Ponting & Symo back to shore up the batting a bit more while we cant do much about the bowling, Lee needs to realise unlike in Australia that he is not getting much swing with this white ball so he has to adjust & he'll be ok IMO. Finally i hope Martyn gets runs in the upcoming games because he could be made a scapegoat again which would be so unfair..

No it wouldnt, Martyn has been absolutely hopeless for most of the Aussie summer except for the 20/20 and 1st one dayer against Sri Lanka. When there are batsmen back at home averaging 80-90 for the season in one day cricket he needs to perform much better than he has i rekon its time for Hussey Jnr or Cosgrove....

nah man he wasn't hopeless, he was just a bit inconsistent, but if Australia do lose this OD series badly he might well & be dropped which would be so unfortunate & unfair IMO because just the other day Martyo was such a top player in the side & in the matter of 6 months he has become this. But if Australia are going to drop him from the ODI side, this would be the best OD XI for me:

Gilchrist
Katich/Jaques - i dont know who to pick anymore
Ponting
Symonds
Watson - he is better off in the top 5
Clarke
Hussey
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

Because Petersen really is that bad.

Surely I'm not alone on this... Rich?
Peterson is the worst player ever to wear the gold and green.. And the worst international cricketer I have seen outside of Zim and Ban

Blackwell is in a class above Peterson, a better batsman and bowler.. But so are most people..

Don't know why I am moaning about him though, I have never seen South Africa play as well as they did tonight, it was a joy to watch..

Watson isnt good enough to bat at 5, we would need another batsmen.

why not, he is not like other all-rounders around who can come in low down & smoke it late in the innings like Razzaq, Afridi, Freddie to an extent & Pollock. He is more suited to batting in the top 5 or 6 IMO & i reckon if given that chance in the OD team to bat their we could well & see the best of batsman batting ability their, after all he does bat high for Queensland & does well. Plus having him instead of another batsman will give the bowling attack more depth:

Lee, McGrath. Bracken. Watson, Hogg, Symonds
