I think the aussies should open with martyn on sunday. I know there are some many reasons why they should not but I just feel it is something that needs to be done if we go in with the same side.

Do you actually know your cricket??? New Zealand are right up the top as oneday team. The fact that you put them behind Eng, India and Pakistan tells me you haven't payed much attention to oneday cricket in the last couple of years. Only South Africa and Aust have beaten New Zealand in a series for years !!
New Zeland is not consistent enough to fight for the top spot. They tend to get hammered quite frequently and most of their top players are often injured.

And by "vying for the top spot" i meant both test and Odi's and can you tell me the last time NZL won a meaningfull test series. No desrespect to NZ i do like them but dont consider them as the real top dogs.

Pura Cup Record:

05/06: Average 24 (currently dropped)
04/05: Average 24 (dropped during the season)
03/04: Average 61
02/03: Average 22 (dropped during the season)
Pre 02/03: Couldn't get a game for WA.

I mean, I know you will say that OD and FC cricket is different. However, selection is a judgement thing. In your judgement, would a player with the above FC record in Australia be able to make the step up to the International arena, and score runs on a consistent basis (as distinct from make a good score)? In my view, absolutely not. Furthermore, it's not as though he's a young punk, learning the game

Firstly we aren't talking about test cricket !!! Unless you have come up with your own test world-cup to happen next year ???

And secondly, your right that since 2003 New Zealand has only lost a series to Pakistan (outside S.A and Aust) when we sent a 2nd string side to Pakistan, so its been over 2 years. Since 2003, NZ has beaten pakistan 4/1, S.L 4/1 and south africa 5/1 at home including winning the natwest trophy in 2004 against England and Westindies without dropping a game and the recent tri-series between NZ, India and Zim. Beating India 2 out of 3 games including the final, and only dorpping the meaningless game when they had already made the final and rested Bond and Vettori. After that Funnily enough India trashed Pakistan in the oneday series.

Oh I almost forgot in 2003 NZ also won the tri series in Asia against Pakistan and Sri lanka.

You have to go way back to early 2002 for that oneday series lost to west indies away

You should educate yourself and have a look at NZ's results in the last couple of years. You might learn something.
Firstly I never said anything about Tests. All I said was that if we did talk about NZ and Test games it would be a laughing affair.

Secondly its 2006 now so if you go back 4 years its 2002 so Im very correct when I said you are wrong about NZ only loosing a ODI series to Aus and SA. As you pointed out they lost to Aus, SA, ***** (It was not a second string, its the only one you had) and then to WI. Home or Away it doesn't matter ... loosing is loosing. Being from NZ you should be use to it. They can only beat teams like SL and WI.

On another note Kenya would have been able to win a tri series in Asia during the the 03/04 season.

04/05: Average 40.25
03/04: Average 32.85

If you think a guy who can't maintain his place in the Victorian batting line-up is International-class, that's cool.

And pakistan, India and Eng have done better in Oneday cricket in the last 4 years ??

In the oneday game clearly Australia are number 1 (clearly all sides struggle against them) South africa are 2 and New zealand 3. India, Pakistan and England are further down the list.
Don't underate this NZ team they are getting stronger and stronger. Our first class game is the strongest its been for a long time. New Zealand have beaten India, Pakistan and England comfortably the last times they have played those sides, so how can they only beat teams like SL and the WI's?????

Ignorance coupled with arrogance, a nasty combination Tazz. Pay a visit to the cricinfo archives, you might learn something.

Brad Hogg ??
Is he back in the WA side yet ??

Does not seem to be effecting him internationally.

Mate, you seem like a typical NZ supporter. Stick to rugby, its where the airheads like you belong.

I never said anything about India, Eng and the rest, I just pulled you up on your comment that no one bar SA and Aus have beaten in a ODI in years. NZ will get whipped in SA when they visit in a few months for the Test ... they have NEVER been a good Test side. Sliding back into 3rd sport playing SL and WI is hardly a achievement.

Reading and comprehension obviously not your strong point aye ! failing to realise that the whole conversation has been about ODI's and not test cricket from the start.

Won't even bother responding to your Flame-bait comment that NZ have never been a good test side, except to say, when has the side you support EVER beaten Australia in a test series in Australia ???

The slight difference is that there's only one spinning spot available in the WA FC side - and they've given it to a young player on the rise (Beau Casson). Therefore, Hogg not making the WA FC team, is not such a sad indictment on him. By contrast, there are six spots available in the Victorian batting line-up (which is one of the weakest in the country) and Hussey has been deemed not worthy of any of them. That is a much bigger indictment on his batting ability.

Owned! Well and truly! Lee looked second-rate and Bracken went into his containing role. Which leaves no-one to take wickets! Clark started extremely well, but got smoked in his last few overs. Watson was lucky, but was due for some. Hogg was pretty decent. So that`s really a 3.5/5 performance, which really isn`t good enough.

And then the batting! When Bracken can make double-figures, you know the opposition haven`t applied themselves. ;) Well bowled Ntini, forced the Aussies into playing stupid shots, and there were plenty of them.

LOL @ Katich!

After my loss of money regarding my bet for England to make less than 340 in the England vs. India test, I need this baby. Just one more win boys! GO SAFFIES! GO MAKHAYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I dare say the SA odds were a bit bigger than the England ones?

Well said owner.

Can we stop this petty squabbling and concentrate on what really matters here - taking the mick out of the Australians.

Can I just state here and now that that is a quite dreadful attitude for anyone to have, akin to sticking the knife in and turning it, kicking a man while he's down, robbing the blind box and just generally letting the side down.
