No, espeically not when they're 2-1 down in the Ashes in the 5th Test...
Learning from mistakes is a good sign, but when you are up 1-0 in a best of 3 series its a different story. Ponting didn't take the light for 2 reasons, 1, he is stubborn and wants to be able to tell other captians they should stay out there, 2, warne wanted to bowl.

I'd love it if they turned those stump-mic's up.

Much better entertainment than a Barry Richards/Tony Greig double act.

Seriously, does Tony know much about the game?

Last night, he was describing how Langer got in the team ahead of Hussey.

"On the 2001 Ashes tour, Taylor, Hussey and Slater got picked as the three openers Then Slater fell out of favour. And it came down to a call between Langer and Hussey, and they went for Langer."

And then Richards asked if Hussey had a back-ground in opening the batting. Tony said that he was pretty sure that he had, but had mainly batted in the middle order for his State.

There are other things that have concerned me about Tony, too. I honestly dont think the man follows the game all that much.

Since the dismissals of Gibbs and Smith the South Africans have batted well, with all their batsmen making starts. With Kallis and Rudolph still there and Pollock, Boucher and Boje to come SA will probably have a first innings lead.
A Greig contender?

At least we don't play boring cricket. Keep everyone guessing the outcome. Then we're back in the game, then we're giving it away again. Going to have some rain the next 2 days, so the game might rain out anyway.

Poor Symonds had to have 4 stitches in his lip.

Some of the commentators sound as if they're describing ***. "Deep penetration" "Swings both ways" "Ball's bouncing"., etc.

Yes we will see plenty of RIchard because just like Glenn McGrath's 'lucky' period between 1:43pm on the 12th of May 2000 and 4:31pm on the 15th of April two-thousand-dickety-three, Brett Lee has suddenly and dramatically found his own luck. Nothing else explains why he's gotten more than his usual share of wickets. If I'm wrong, I'll eat my computer.
I thinkk you'll find Brett had some of his own luck delivered on the 25th of December 2004 by a Santa Claus looking remarkably like Glen McGrath. If this didn't happen, I'll go you one better and have my brain replaced by a hard drive from a Commodore 64.

I didn't hear anything remotely ***ual in those comments. And neither would anyone else, I'd guess. You're just a pervert.

Ntini goes first ball. Lee on a hatrick at the start of the next innings.

SA lost 5/12.
What are the odds on Graeme Smith getting a king pair. Maybe AB de Villiers will be sent to face to protect the skipper.

Well considering that Smith was apparently out clubbing last night - pretty good

Needless to say, SA are in a shed-load of trouble.

3rd test could be a nightmare as both Ntini and Nel dont look fit.

From late in the 1st innings til close of play last night, Ntini barely scraped into the 130s and Nel hasnt been fully fit since SA arrived in Aus and his injury is definitely troubling him.

That's right...and neither was one of the commentators referring to the ball 'being chained to the middle of the bat, dressed in leather, before getting spanked through covers and thundering towards the fence on all fours wearing a dog collar' something that should bring all but the dirtiest of minds into play in my opinion!

There seems to be a bit of that around cricket right now, especially in the Warnie/Prince sub/dom relationship. I swear I heard someone say "WHO'S YO DADDY??" to Prince as he walked off. Must have been Joe the Cameraman.

As for Lee - sensational. He must be due for a major haul of wickets (6 or 7 in an innings) before too long with the way he's bowled over the last few months.
Well picked (okay, he only got 5 but you still said it).

How many runs do you think Ponting is going to set the South Africans to chase?
I reckon they'll bat through till around ten overs before tea so probably around 360 - 380.

I think he will try and 450odd, that 400+ sore is just another obsticle and will be very hard for SA to get. **NOTE: not impossible. But yeah .. hard.

Inning from Gibbs and Smith needed if they will make it in this test.

Winning that 438run chase in ODI's means **** all if you can't even win a Test at home :|

More credit needs to be given to Clark IMO. Lee was absolutely amazing, don`t doubt that, but runs off Clark were as rare as a G-rated show on Channel 10. He kept it extremely tight, and Lee was just dangerous.

Hopefully the Aussies can keep it going now.
