with the final runs being leg byes off a plumb lbw not given with all reviews having been used upideally smith will score 220* and Australia will win by one wicket.
Where has this been announced? So Smith is ICC banned for a Test. Bancroft, presumably because ball tampering is only three points, is not.
EDIT: Yeah it looks like Smith was pinned with the catch-all "conduct contrary to the spirit of the game" which is a four demerit point equivalent (or instead two suspension points, whatever that means)

But still if a miracle happens and Smith,Bancroft or Warner scores heavily and Australia wins dramatically, will that have any immediate effect on the doom they are about to face. I am curiousHaha ya that's how massive their task is.
How has Bancroft gotten away with lying to the umpires? So Smith is ICC banned for a Test. Bancroft, presumably because ball tampering is only three points, is not.

It looks like everything was decided on last night before the press conference.Seems quick, I expected them to wait till the game finished.
He hasn't. He copped 3 demerit points I believe. How has Bancroft gotten away with lying to the umpires?
For ball tampering (level 2 offence). The lying to the umpires would presumably come under the same catch-all as Smith's charge. He hasn't. He copped 3 demerit points I believe.
Will be interesting to see what CA do now in response. I would imagine the public in Australia will think this is too light a punishment. It looks like everything was decided on last night before the press conference.
Not on the immediate doom, but in the long term that'll make it easier for either Smith or Warner to continue as captain. If they lose these 2 test matches then we'll have someone other than Smith and Warner captaining in the long term imo. That's how public perception works in my experience. And CA is a soft-**** institute so they'll base their decision on public perception. But still if a miracle happens and Smith,Bancroft or Warner scores heavily and Australia wins dramatically, will that have any immediate effect on the doom they are about to face. I am curious
Same way de Kock did?How has Bancroft gotten away with lying to the umpires?
Wrong place, wrong time. This being a Sunday certainly contributed to the magnitude of the reaction. Australian Twitter has been in meltdown all morning. I don't see how this is a bigger offence than 'brainfade' in India but most people didn't care or even know about it. When the Australian PM gets involved by Sunday afternoon, ICC had to take quick action.Seems quick, I expected them to wait till the game finished.
I don't think 'lying to the umpires' is a specific offence under ICC code of conduct? This is a bit much. For ball tampering (level 2 offence). The lying to the umpires would presumably come under the same catch-all as Smith's charge.
Oh it isn't, which is why it would be a catch-all. You can call just about anything you care to name which is sufficiently dubious as "all types of conduct of a serious nature that is contrary to the spirit of the game", which is the actual wording of the clause, if you try hard enough.I don't think 'lying to the umpires' is a specific offence under ICC code of conduct? This is a bit much.
