Seems to happen often with Kumble. A bit of a forgotten 'great'.

Does anyone else find Dean Jones incredibly annoying?

First Day Australia 1, India 0.

India were doing well when they had Australia 150/4. But since then Clarke and Katich took the day away from India and Batted really well to put their team in a strong position. Once again they showed that this Australian team is much better at handling spin bowling.

Yeah I do. I think he must have gone for a coffee when Clarke smashed Sehwag over mid-wicket. When he hit his second one, Jones screamed "THERE'S HIS FIRST SIX IN TEST CRICKET!" as if Jones was witnessing history in the making haha.

Yep I think Australia have put themselves in a strong position in this match. The first day marks go to them after some excellent batting by the young Clarke and Katich as well. This bloke(Clarke) will be one of the guys to watch out for in the coming years.

Congrats to Kumble on his 400th wicket. Harbhajan hasn't done much yet, but he may join the party on day 2, as India needs to get wickets early and restrict Australia to less then 450, or else the match is out of India's hands in this wicket specially when you have to bat on the 4th innings.

Day belongs to Aus for sure, it also shows how hard test cricket is, for the most day IND bowled well and contained AUS, and then clarke and katich slowly got AUS back in the game. Interesting strategy by AUS to come down the pitch to play spin and settle down, seems like this will continue throughout the series, lets see how IND will tackle this.

Yeah when the WI were playing England in the ICC final, when they still looked a long way off, and smeone hit a 4, he screamed like it was to win the match off the last ball...

India has to get Aus out for less than 400 if they want to win this one. And somehow I don't see that happening.
if not, they will most likely face a pretty big 4th innings target on a wearing pitch against Warne and without Tendulkar....not an enticing prospect....

Matt Hayden?

And no, I will not waste an airfare to London and spend all day on a bus to Exeter (from the map it looks like at least 6 hours on bus) just to eat your computer
You'll have a job getting a bus from London to Exeter!
A taxi would be more to the point.
And yes, I rate Lehmann far higher than Hayden, and no, that isn't because I love Lehmann for all the help he's provided Yorks down the years.

I don't think the selectors rate Martin Love's ability to play spin. I mean he got undone by...Omari Banks...
And Omari Banks was bowling well enough to do so.

Even so, one dismissal (even had Banks been bowling like he's seemingly bowled for most of his Test-career) doesn't exactly prove much.
I think most of us are in agreement that Love has been very harshly treated indeed - though with Katich's undoubted pedigree and Clarke's remarkably good start, he could have some more waiting to do!

It's kind of weird how similar Clarke's test debut is to his ODI one. Both times he came in with Australia in a volatile situation, both times he's performed with an extremely cool head, both times has shown a flair in his attack without ever looking like giving his wicket away. I think both times he came in at number 6, as well.

And of course, the icing on the coincidence-cake: both times he debuted under Adam Gilchrist.

Not really, I don't find him too bad.
