Who will come in for Chopra if he is dropped? It's highly unlikely SRT will play the next Test...

I would like to see Das given a go in place of Chopra. As far as I remember, he didn't do a bad job in the 2001 series.
If they get Patel to open , as I suspect they might, then Kaif should get in. Remember they have announced a 14 (15 including Sachin) for the two tests and it is unlikely (not impossible) that they will look outside those. The three who did not play were Karthik, Kaif and either Nehra or Agarkar (I forget who).

No Das didnt do a bad job but he has been kept away for so long, its unlikely he will get in now. In India it is often, out of sight, out of mind. Same applies to Ramesh.

Still bitter are we, never mind- try washing your mouth with lemon juice it may take away the sour taste in your mouth.

Why would I be bitter?

England won the game and the great Ricky was outcaptained by the useless Vaughan.

Someone take out Ricky's legs with an iron-pipe; like for like losses for Australia and India.

(And two extra tests for Clarke hehe...)

Pontings average is not good in India till now, Tendulkar not playing is a greater loss to India than that

Might have been blessed in disguise IMO wth katich and clarke (whoever was replacement)

This is apointless debate. The fact is Australia were too good for us in Bangalore and beat us hollow.

Unless India comes up with a much improved performance, we are in trouble.

The Australian attack never looked menacing or unplayable . Normally one would have considered this aspect a positive for India but the way we still fared against it doesnt allow that optimism, with Sachin and Ponting or without.

That's a fair assessment for mine.

Well if you want to get technical about it, Katich was Ponting's replacement, and Clarke was Katich's replacement. :D

Are you aware of his performances as an opener against visiting sides ?

As far as footwork goes remember what the schoolboy told his coach when reprimanded, "Look where your feet are". He said, "yes sir, but look where the ball is !"

This no feet mumbe jumbo is true to an extent but the way it is selctively used against some and not against others (Laxman, Sehwag, Ganguly et al) is thanks to fans allowing the bias of commentators to decide for them rather than use their own judgement (and eyes) to see for them selves.

I have seeen it used against Ganguly AND Laxman AND Sehwag and also seen the goal posts shifted with no 'shifting' of the palyer concerned's footwork.

Watch the games and innings of Ramesh, study his scores, look at his strokes, compare with the other openers tried in the last ten years and decide for yourself based on facts.

He has flaws (who hasnt) but the only one which can be held against with some justification is that he has thrown away his wicket after having the bowling, apparently, by the scruff of the neck.

AND being satisfied with fifties (not that we get many of them from most Indian openers) and a poor conversion rate of fifties to hundreds. Poor not by the standards of most Indian openers but the best !!

So true. The latest in coaching at least in Australia is that balance is more important than footwork. for example front foot shots can all be played from the stright drive position (that includes cover drives, square drives and on drives) as long as your hands play from the body.

Yeah, not really new, we've been doing it for quite a while. I did my coarse 2 years ago. The said during the coarse that England were about 3 or 4 years behind Australia. :p

I've only coached for 1 and a half, nearly two years but I've always taken the approach that balance is the key - "if you're balanced, and everything's pulling in one direction, then the ball's going to go hard in that direction, too".

they looked menacing and unplayable upuntill the second inngs of culcatta test in the last series.even thogh it then took a once in a life time performance by laxman to save us.i hope we will be able to bat first in the chennai test and score some where around 350 and then we will have a good game in prospect.

INDIA - 4 **** Australia- 1

only outs are taken into consideration as its difficult to see every single decision made by the umpires (all figures after the first test match)

Well the only figure that counts is Australia 1 India 0..and that 1-0 score line makes India look better than they were :D ...get over it and take your defeat like a man :p

and ya i have seen lot of Great men from austrlia and england who came to india before and complained about the poor umpiring standerd here :D :D :D :D

and i ahve no problem in accepting that score line and even if india win the series(highly unlikely with no sachin)the fact is that umpires do make a lot of mistake :p :p

I'm happy to see warne doing badly, but I'd also like to see harbhajan singh get smacked about a bit as well to give him more deserving figures. How he keeps doing well against Australia is beyond me, even England of 2 years ago have played him better than Australia have.

with tendulkar out of the 2nd test and likely to be ruled out for the entire series, india would do well to win one test or at the worst avoid a shut-out... :(
