Sriram or what ever , Has he got international experience .
I liked Romesh for his timing , which is IMO close to that of Saeed Anwar .
And I saw his one ODI against Pakistan in SHarjah . In those times India was'nt playing good against Shoaib , But he was the only one who did'nt show any fear ..
Yeah prove it as the respectable member already asked ..
I agree. Ramesh is the best bet currently as opener after Chopra. Yuvraj will be a disaster (or worse yet, fluke one good outing and then be selected for next guzzillion tims on the basis of that sole success). I would pick Kaif as well. Drop Zaheer and try Agarkar, or Munaf Patel ? Perhaps they should open with Parthiv and Ramesh (nothing to lose if either go early) and save Sehwag ofr middle order. Laxman definitely needs to go - his cavalier attitude and mock expressions when he is out, really suck.

1-0 Australia is all that matters to the Australian team.

I mean if it ends up 4-0 and Warne takes 12 @ 40 in the series, I don't see how you can crow about it, but I expect you will.

Umm excuse me? You want Laxman out of the team?

Let's see, he was there with Ganguly when he scored the ton in the 1st test at Brisbane.
He was there with Dravid when he scored his double ton in the 2nd test at Adelaide.
He was there with Tendulkar when he scored his double tone in the 4th test at Sydney.

Not to mention the influence he had in the 2001 series. If you listen to the comments by many Australians, they honestly fear him almost as much as Sachin, and equally as much as Dravid.

Some fear him more than those two mentioned.

Exactly, I had a quote in my sig earlier with Bret Lee saying how Steve Waugh saw Tendular and Dravid's wicket as 'great', but Laxman's wicket was a 'miracle'.

He just oozes class, and if India ever drop him again I'll be disgusted. I've heard for too long the calls for Dravid and Laxman to be dropped from the OD team, and both have performed brilliantly to shut those up. But I've never heard anyone complain about Laxman's spot in the test team, I can't quite understand why anyone would want to either.

Gilchrist made the comment that if Warne only takes 8 wickets for the series, and they're all Laxman, he'll be happy with that.

the greatest spinner of all time according to some is not able to get wickets on the fifth day of a test match and that to the tail

and y waste a bowlers position if he is going to take wickets @40 australia will be better team winning easly with lee in the team.

I will take that.

BUT after he had got Laxman in the second innings, Gilchrist should have confined him to the outfield for fielding duties only..... for Australia's sake...and Warne's own.

Theres no need to rush in an unfit Tendulkar. Sure, the batting was terrible in the First Test, but theres no doubt that if they play to their ability, it'll be no worries for them!

Even if they lose (which they appear favourites to do :p ), they cant risk aggravating his injury.

I dont think he will play.

It said in the paper that he might miss the 3rd test as well, he has nearly definently missed the 2nd on Thursday.

Either way as Linda said, there is no need whatsoever to rush Tendulkar into it. As many have said already, its the kind of injury that requires a player to have a long time off. His main priority should be building muscle strength and then after his elbow is okay, he should get plenty of batting practice with a lighter bat.

I don't want his elbow to get worse than it already is. Its perhaps the most prized elbow in all of India at the moment, so they should give it the importance it deserves and let it heal in the correct time frame.

Sachin needs to heal as any player deserves to get full recovery, but I would not be suprised if hes asked to play as the batting is in terrible shape.

To play Tendulkar would be a big risk if he did play, he could worsen his injury, making his return to cricket longer and make him miss more matches, which India can hardly afford in this batting form against Australia.

The Indians are purposely having conflicting reports to keep the Australian team in doubt. That's why Tendulkar's physio was told to keep quiet. I think its the smart thing to do, keep his comeback silent if he is indeed going to play.

That being said he shouldn't unless he's absolutely postively 100%.
