I wish Marc770920978273 would shut the f*ck up, whenever someone complains about umpiring he always jumps in saying to stop blaming umpires. The decisions have been shocking and generally all gone against India and that is a major factor in their defeat. If your an India supporter, there is every right to be p*ssed of with the umpiring.

I agree with those saying Yuvraj should be dropped, as much as i like him as a player he's not good enough for tests. Mongia or Kaif should come in if Sachin still isn't fit

It's comments like that that cast a very bad light on Indian supporters. You make Indian supporters in general look like sore losers and bad sportsmen when it is surely not the case.

It's one thing to be annoyed with some bad decisions; it's another for so many people to come onto the forum getting personally abusive, or just downright annoying with the incessant berating of the umpires who have done their best.

As for what you said about Marc, maybe you should practice what you preach, because at least he has the sense to be objective and less irritating.

Looks like Its a great time if you are a Pak fan now, to gloat about India's misfortunes I suppose. :D

While the performance of this Australian Team is outstanding, the gloating Pak fans make me sick.

Ramesh always looked in trouble against the moving ball. I don't think it was really wrong to drop him. I think Sehwag should get the next Test to deliver the goods. If not, bring in Sriram. he used to open earlier and should do well. i know it might be a pressure situation by then but i reckon he can handle it.

For India Kumble is going to come out big . And I dont know why but I like Kumble , He is wonderful .And Bhaji (Harbhajan) is extremely rediculous now a days against the top teams . Best of Luck India and keep home the glory . Atleast dont let Aussies the only trophy that they dont have in their bag . Any ways IMO Dravid and Kaif are gonna play a big role and I really dont like Sehwag's way of playing and he is going to make no deep impact on the result .
*Cheers*
First post of yours FRAZ in this thread , Poor Judgement about Kumble .

Com'on dude .
Sriram or what ever , Has he got international experience .
I liked Romesh for his timing , which is IMO close to that of Saeed Anwar .
And I saw his one ODI against Pakistan in SHarjah . In those times India was'nt playing good against Shoaib , But he was the only one who did'nt show any fear ..
Yeah prove it as the respectable member already asked ..

in the 99 WC he looked all at sea. i dunno the scores there but i think (hope??) they will bear me out.
also he seemed to have very little footwork not unllike Sehwag but Sehwag I guess makes up for it with a great hand-eye co-ordination.
he also did not do well against Aus in the 99-00 series. again iirc, it was his lack of footwork that failed him

IMHO , Newzealand is the best touring spot to judge a batsman's ability . Idont know why But I've seen that any one who performs good in Newzealand , he remains good most of the times ...

Are you aware of his performances as an opener against visiting sides ?

As far as footwork goes remember what the schoolboy told his coach when reprimanded, "Look where your feet are". He said, "yes sir, but look where the ball is !"

This no feet mumbe jumbo is true to an extent but the way it is selctively used against some and not against others (Laxman, Sehwag, Ganguly et al) is thanks to fans allowing the bias of commentators to decide for them rather than use their own judgement (and eyes) to see for them selves.

I have seeen it used against Ganguly AND Laxman AND Sehwag and also seen the goal posts shifted with no 'shifting' of the palyer concerned's footwork.

Watch the games and innings of Ramesh, study his scores, look at his strokes, compare with the other openers tried in the last ten years and decide for yourself based on facts.

He has flaws (who hasnt) but the only one which can be held against with some justification is that he has thrown away his wicket after having the bowling, apparently, by the scruff of the neck.

AND being satisfied with fifties (not that we get many of them from most Indian openers) and a poor conversion rate of fifties to hundreds. Poor not by the standards of most Indian openers but the best !!

ok. fair enough. i looked at his scores and the only place he failed was Aus 99-00 and well, who didn't fail there.
I guess I never was comfortable with his style of play and was basing my comments of that.

Here is what I think the selectors are going to do. I am not saying this is what I think they shoud do.

They will drop Chopra and ask Patel to open. They will make no other change thoughthere is a small (very small) possibility of Zaheer being replaced by Nehra or Agarkar.

Why ?

1. Because they are worried about not getting a good start and would not want to continue with an out of form and now demoralised Chopra. They wont touch Sehwag since they dont dare change both !

2. They wont try a new opener since like idiots they havent built a second line (other than in Ganguly's mouth/mind) about opening options so they are not going to be bold enough to take a chance after having lost a test. Considering Parthiv's score in his only opening foray so far, they will consider it a lesser risk !

3. This will also ensure that they dont bring in a new keeper.

4. Yuvraj will retain his place (though I hope he gives way to Kaif) for at least one more test.

5. Laxman's past record against Australia, his relative comfort till he fell and Tendulkars absence will ensure that VVS stays.

6. Ganguly is captain and Maharaj (EMPORER) so no changes here :D

In nutshell Chopra is the only one they DARE to drop . Sad but true.

I am glad :D

Not least because here is a poster who is willing to change his long held opinion. Something you cant say of many others.

Who will come in for Chopra if he is dropped? It's highly unlikely SRT will play the next Test...

I would like to see Das given a go in place of Chopra. As far as I remember, he didn't do a bad job in the 2001 series.
