Who? Ponting? It just about makes up for his failure with the bat.
I don't know how many people here are actually watching it on television, but it was one of the truly great catches. Up there with one I saw Mark Waugh take at midwicket once, absolute full stretch dive with one hand. The Waugh one was going faster, but Ponting was at bat-pad so it is hard to say which was better.

isnt it fairly obvious?
Actually, no it isn't.

In a low scoring game - 220 in the second innings makes it a 120 or so lead - not an easy target.

To get a 220 lead they need 320, which seems a bit high IMO.

At the moment 320 is practically impossible, the only qualified batsmen is Kaif at the crease.

They might get around 230-270.

As an aside, I just saw Gillespie interviewed on TV - when asked about the pitch, he said:

"You know I can't comment on that, but a mate came up to me before and said it was an absolute shocker."

Yep, heard it on the news. In presumption, that 'mate' was made up, the pitch is a shocker was his own thoughts, but he tried to disguise it.

:D :D :D

I think the cameraman was trying to suppress his laughter when he said that.

Clarke really hasn't ever been much of a bowler, but he's obviously got some pointers from Lehmann, and he's bowling a lot more roundarm and quite quick and flat. It might not do much in a test at the WACA, but on a beast of a pitch like this or in an ODI it seems to be very effective. Plus the Indians seem to be underestimating his spin because his action isn't the best.

considering he did say how many runs they need to win this game, not how many runs they need to have a chance?
lets not forget the australia got 204 in the first innings, so the chances of of winning the game with 120 is extremely small indeed.

Clarke 4/7 and maybe one more to come.

Game might be over tonight.
i'll never understand why he didnt bowl against england in the icc trophy, maybe now ponting will have enough faith in him to give him an over in an ODI when things arent going his way.....

6 for 9!

What a debut series for Clarke. Must be one of the best for Australia since Taylor in the '89 Ashes.
Unbelievable. Michael Clarke.......6/9!?!?!?!?!

  :-O

Im not going to write us (India) off yet. It will take an unbelievably disciplined performance by India to win this one, but Australia are 99% sure of victory in my eyes.

Clarkey take a bow.....6/9!

Thats amazing

6/9!!! Holy Mother of God!

Probably puts Hauritz' performance into perspective.

I can't remember the last time I saw figures that amazing.
