What a terrible way for a player of Sachin's caliber to get out. Sweep is a bad habit he has picked up from ODI's.

With his strokes , he has no need for a sweep, least of all on a wicket like this and in a test match. Ridiculous and highly irresponsible. With the team in this crisis, he has to make the bowlers get him.

Perhaps some credit could finally be given to Hauritz. After the over were he got hit for a couple of fours and a six he has found a good line and has looked dangerous. He had Laxman dropped by Katich, another one Gilly almost got, he has beaten both batsman a few times.

He & McGrath kept it tight after the Indian batsman had been in full flow for about an hour, I think Tendulkar was trying to break the shackles.

Well done Hauritz.

If he bowls well at least it will gives the Australian selectors a geniune chance to sit down and decide who they want to be their spinner v NZ.

You can bet your bottom dollar if Hauritz plays v NZ he would consider this all of his birthdays and christmas' have comee at come at once.

In the two overs of Hauritz (before sweeping at the first ball of the third and getting out), Sachin had faced only four deliveris and scored, 1,2,0 and 0 (Laxman had played the other eight for a 2 and a 1). By no stretch of imagination can this be termed as shackles for Tendulkar ! Surely a test player you dont lose your patience due to 2 dot balls !! Not even in ODI's ! This is a test match. Have a heart. Sachin made a stupid mistake and thats it.

BTW, before these four balls, that I mentioned above, Hauritz had, in this innings bowled 7 other balls at Tendulkar of which he had scored 15 runs (a strike rate of over 200) with 3 dot balls, 1 single, 2 fours and 1 six. That says it all I think as far as Hauritz having shackled Tendulkar is concerned !! :p

Not just Hauritz mate, I mentioned McGrath at the other end keeping it tight. Vary rarely can a team keep pressure from one end, the bowlers need to work as a team.

Wrong Again !! :p :p

Tendulkar faced only one ball from McGrath in his entire innings !!

Yet to hear of any one feeling shackled from a single delivery :D

Give up mate. Tendulkar just committed harakiri for no rhyme or reason. Well he may have his reasons (couldnt wait for the ten minutes left for lunch for example) but they cant be the one's you offer .

Fine then! India only scored 16 runs off the last 8 overs (that includes Kasprowicz bowling). If that isn't keeping the runs down and putting pressure on the batsman, I don't know what is. 8 overs is close to half an hour if not more, it doesn't matter who was being kept down more - Laxman or Tendulkar, they were both being kept down. And, yes Tendulkar made a mistake, but I think that has something to do with the tight bowling and trying to assert domination over the bowlers.

He obviously went out there intent on being agressive...it worked up until that last shot. If you're going to criticise that one, what about all the other shots he played that came off..are you going to criticise them too?

I dont think SJS is criticizing Tendulkar for being aggresive. What he means to say that Sweep shot is a very risky shot, especially in conditions like that when there is uneven bounce on the pitch. Tendulkar should have chosen his shots carefully.

Okay experts, how many runs should be enough for India to win this one, I say 220 ?
I think 220 won't be enough. Unless Dravid digs in and received prolongued support from the other end the Indians will probably be bowled out for less.

Then the Aussie's have a day and a half to make up the deficit. I think they need to aim for atleast 260+

Its only the third day, and most of day one was washed out, so India (if wickets available) will require 300 + so that it would be competitive and put huge pressure on Australia to get them. So batting till late tomorrow would be best.

260+ will pretty much seal the match for India. It seems that Australia are missing one spinner. They should bring Clark and Katich.

That's it. Match is over now. One more wicket and the long tail starts. Mcgrath and co. will not take long to finish them off today.

For those who missed it - Gilchrist just caught Kaif off his glove and the appeal was turned down. After it Gilchrist said to Kaif "that came off your glove mate" and it looked like Kaif responded with a nod, then Gilchrist said "the whole world is watching, champ".

Interesting confrontation. Some might interpret it as Gilchrist telling another batsman to walk, although I think it is pretty standard fare for when a batsman if clearly gone and is given not out, it just happened to be caught on the stump microphone.
