I dont see why.. Maybe you have a case not to rate him quite so high but none the less it's hardly unusual that even a great player as Ponting is will strugle in some particular places.
The odd tour maybe, but over his career a continual failure in one place would indicate a flaw.

India need to take their catches, 3 have been grassed already (Langer, Martyn, Clarke).

Martyn was a big blow especially. Once again the famous saying could be true. Catches win Matches.

I wont disagree with that.. I dont think Ponting is capable of avraging anywhere nere what he does in Australia on the subcontenent.

But my point was all things aside he is still a great player and judging somone so harshly on there inability to score in one place is a bit harsh.

Clarke's dropped didn't matter, he only added an extra 2 runs before he was stumped. Interesting innings from Clarke by the sounds of it.

I wouldn't say the subcontinent. He has batted very well in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, he just has major problems against continual pressure with spin bowlers that India give him.

seems the plan was for him to go after it trying to build the lead quickly while martyn sticks around at the other end... Gichrist scoring fast as per usual...
