Jeez India are horrible to watch.

Dizzy in fine form and even Hauritz is in on the action (Even though Cameron White should be out there. :D )

India need to dig the heels in now to get above 130.

This score might be actually OK, looking at what Hauritz is doing with this pitch. :o

the score 104/10 is not the astonishing part, but it will be after lunch when sachin or kumble will get the new ball. And that's when you will want to pull your hair in confusion and try to comprehend whose brain came up with that idea.

Our team has been playing so bad that now I dont even feel bad about our performance. KDK Karthik Gone. India 51/6. Dravid still there.

SJS, You think of me as a PP supporter, dont you ?? Trust me, I didn't want him in the team (as a wicketkeeper) either, But I wanted him as a batsman. I never wanted Chopra to be dropped from the team, because whoever replaced him would have come under great pressure to perform, I now feel sorry for Gambhir because now he will be under even more pressure to perfrom in the second innings and if he doesn't succeed, his career most likely is over.
Sorry Sanz if it sounded as if I was picking on you. Perhaps I was and it was uncalled for and not right on my part.

Honestly, I thought Parthiv was a damn good find (as a keeper mind you) when he first came. I know a bit about keeping, believe me. On top of that whenever he got the chance he batted really well with lot of maturity and huge display of guts something resembling Tatenda Taibu in courage. I really admire him for that.

Then his keeping fell apart.

Ganguly is stupid to talk of a bad day in office. He doesnt have any idea what he is talking about but it is More who should be shot dead for not seeing it (being blinded because Parthiv was from Guajarat?) immediately. He was doing everything wrong. EVERYTHING. It was not a question of bad form. It was as if someone who had never kept wickets was being asked to do so. I can list ten things wrong with his basic keeping. This should be obvious to anyone who has kept wickets at any reasonable level or has studied keeping and keeping techniques.

I am shocked that John Wright is not able to correct (I presume that is the case because his technique became worse) the basics. Any cricket coach worth his salt (irrespective of what was his own speciality as a player) should understand the basics of all facets of the game and point them out to his wards. Clearly he had no clue.

By continuing with him and hoping (and praying I suppose) that things will improve was disastrous. Not just for the team but much worse for poor Parthiv. It was NOT his fault that they kept selecting him as keeper. If he could see what he was doing wrong, he would have set it right. Of course, he did not know. If Parthiv believed that he was just having a bad patch and would get out of it, I can understand that since he , probably, could not put any other explanation to what was happening and he is too young and probably hasnt even been coached very thoroughly in the niceties of keeping. He was probably a natural which many youngsters are but if they are not worked on and the techniques are not firmly imbibed , the natural flare can give way and without the solid foundation of technique grilled over time by a good coach, to fall back upon, your game can fall apart.

Continuing with him, WITHOUT HELPING HIM CHANGE THE THINGS HE WAS DOING WRONG, only made matters worse. He went from bad to worse, his confidence was shattered and he was subjected to ridicule by the media, the spectators and, I dare say , maybe by opponents on the field although one hasnt heard of it yet. He did not deserve this. But there it is. What everyone sees is your performance and when it is as bad as his was, he had to take the sh** that came his way.

As far as his batting is concerned. I am amazed that he was able to continue batting with gumption when he must be mentally traumatised. My respect for him has increased after seeing him stand up to the Australian bowlers in such conditions and at such terrible time for himself personally. He is clearly a guy with great mental strength and this is the type of cricketer India needs. But if he wants to be that cricketer AND do it through being a specialist keeper he needs to get help.

Coming to your defense of him. Whenever anyone says anything against Parthiv, how come you sound as if its a personal attack on you ? It may not be how you feel but that is how it comes out and you must understand that. Others, myself included, will react to our perception of something said/posted here. And you are percieved not just as a PP supporter, as you put it, but a very strong, hardcore, ready to fight PP supporter You say you are not one. Okay I believe you but finally what will change the way people percieve you is what they make of what they read from your posts, no ?

There are plenty of posts here , and some signatures too, which I find very provovative or extremely biased and am really tempted to respond. Most of the times, I let go. I realise that this is not what I come to this forum for. I come here to have a discussion on the game. To share my views with others and hear from them. But I dont come here to pick up an argument let alone a fight. If I feel that is what my discussion with anyone has become, I back out. Sometimes, in fact, I feel I should have backed out a bit earlier than I do at times. This is not because I cant counter the 'arguments' being put, but because I can see that the 'discussion' is not getting anywhere and is fast degenerating into an argument.

I dont want to react out of pique. At least I try not to. That I think is the key to happy and pleasurable posting.

Regards

Thought he was going to be the next Indian captain who would lead the future side to become the best team in the world as the Australians were slipping. Ofcourse this was a year ago, alot has changed on this board since then, only thing which has changed on pitch though is that Australia have their bowlers back.

I know Langer has hit Harbajhan for four off the first ball, but it could be a good thing for India that they are playing three spinners and have to bowl spin early. The Aussie batsman like Gilchrist & Ponting do struggle against spin early in their innings. I feel especially with Ponting, not having played for a while, and his terrible record against India last time, if he has to face spin at both ends that could cause him a bit of trouble.

Langer sweeps Harbajhan for four and in the process he and Hayden become the highest scoring opening partnership for Australia passing Taylor and Slater.

Congratulations boys. :D

Ponting's Indian curse stikes again...at least he made double figures this time. Out for 11 LBW to Kumble.
That's still less than his average in India.

Like you said, the decision to play the spin bowlers early was a good one, as Ponting struggles with spin early in his innings.

Oh Great !! 37/5 With no Parthiv Patel, Let's see who saves them now :) Dinesh Karthik with Rahul Dravid holding the fort. I expect India to fold around 120-130 around Tea and then I expect Australia to make 150-200 for 2 wickets by the end of the day.
surprise surprise, the heartless dravid managed to bat through while everyone else failed, wanna criticise him for slow scoring now?

more disappointment from ponting in the subcontinent, its a pity because i really cant rate him as high as some other people do unless he manages to score here.
