I'm listening to the radio coverage (or was until they went to the news). Maxwell kept saying after replays that it was a bit high. But he also said that Ponting shouldn't be trying to hit against the spin, especially with a horizontal bat shot...or maybe that was Bogle.

2) a failure is a failure regardless, and id like to ask you how many players in the so called "my team" managed to average less than 3.40 in the last series in india?

more disappointment from ponting in the subcontinent, its a pity because i really cant rate him as high as some other people do unless he manages to score here.

I dont see why.. Maybe you have a case not to rate him quite so high but none the less it's hardly unusual that even a great player as Ponting is will strugle in some particular places.

From what I heard the LBW decision was a bit iffy any way, that and the fact he wont be aclimitised to the batting conditions quite yet haveing only been there a short while.

well, if it was the 'so called my team' then the answer would be none, presuming of cause that that team is India in this instance there's no way any of them could average 3.40 in a series against themselves! haha

Well, actually, yes. The match was early in the second day, there was little point in him simply blocking up an end with the tail - runs were the name of the game IMO.

To be fair in this case - he's coming off a 2 month lay-off.

Had he played all 4 Tests and not scored, then that would be a different matter.
