This thread now holds the record for most number of replies for a thread in cricket chat beating the england NZ thread (3264)

which shows we are breaking the records very fast showing we are growing as a forum very fast
I look forward in anticipation until the time when the **official** australia in england aka the ashes thread pops up next year. That could have a few replies.

Ged is fine to have his views on Hauritz, but to use the "he doesn't earn his spot" defense is a very bad argument, when the player he has been touting for months, the-one-the-only Michael Clarke certainly did not deserve a spot on tour.
Mr Casson = Ged? The plot thickens...

And I can't believe they played Hauritz, either. Charity cap in a dead rubber.
On this pitch, the choice was 1 or 2 spinners...losing Warne made sure it'd be one. Hauritz or White? Well, I figure it's a lineball choice, so I can't really complain either way.

We should have MacGill there...not least for his excellent batting form!
( for those who don't know, he was part of a 216 run 10th wicket partnership for NSW Vs WA..of which, he scored 27 )

At the time that McGrath and Warne were introduced into the test side the Australian side wasn't the power it is now, there weren't that many quality candidates, so there intoduction is fair enough. But to say that Clarke, a relative rookie should get in ahead of players who have been consistent, not just for one season, but several consectively is a bit rich IMO. Fair enough if there were no other quality candidates, but not this occasion.

lol if Clarke wasn't from NSW no doubt you would be singing his praises

Wait.

Hogg can do a good job in ODI's but be not good enough for Tests, but Clarke can do a good job in ODI's and qualify as good enough for selection?

Interesting.
It's not to say that Hogg and Clarke looked like the same player in ODIs, is it? In my opinion, any success that Hogg had was the result of an insane purple patch, which Clarke doesn't need to rely on to be successful.

Nothing to do with choosing arguments. Saying that is just a cheap way of trying to shoot down my argument because you've got nothing better, Kyle.

Today should be interesting with Sachin and Dravid both looking in shaky form at the moment, Australia would back themselves to get amongst this Indian lower order.

That's crap. There are many Qlders who I don't think will ever be test class, has everyone missed the fact that I don't think Hauritz should have been selected for this tour? In fact some of my favourite players have come from N.S.W. Steve Waugh, Mike Whitney, Greg Matthews and Gavin Robertson.

And if anyone realisticly thinks that Clarke would be in the same position if he was for Qld you are deluded. a first class average of under 40 would not get someone from Qld even close to the test side.

Once again, I have said I thought Clarke would have the talent to make it in Australia, but I stand by the fact I think he shouldn't have made it ahead of other players who have been more consistent over a longer period of time (and not all those players are from Qld).

So what's to say Clarke's Tests so far aren't an insane purple patch for him?

His FC record isn't the greatest...

Oh good comeback to a post from Andre.

Unlike you, some people have one log-in and one log-in only.

Oh Great !! 37/5 With no Parthiv Patel, Let's see who saves them now :) Dinesh Karthik with Rahul Dravid holding the fort. I expect India to fold around 120-130 around Tea and then I expect Australia to make 150-200 for 2 wickets by the end of the day.

A pathetic 2653!

The England NZ being the most somewhat surprises me though!
Put it in context though.

I started the thread five months beforehand as the "New Zealand in England disscussion thread" so put all topics in that thread. It got dug up before the series began and the mods turned it into the *Official* threads. I guess with a lot of Kiwis and Englishmen (and women) on this site, and a five month head start, that is possible.

Does Warne have a brain?

During a discussion with Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn over batting gloves in Nagpur last week, each claimed their's were the best, and Warne told the others he had decided to take the additional protective guard out of the right thumb because he found it uncomfortable.

"I said I have not been hit there in my whole career. In 15 years I have never been hit. The first session I had since then I hit them straight away," Warne said.

On the villain who caused his injury, Warne said: "He was just a little spinner. The really bad thing is that during the last Test match myself, Damien Martyn and Ricky Ponting were all trying on different gloves.

"They had this thumb piece that goes in the thumb - it's really uncomfortable.

"I said: 'Look at mine, I take it out. It's that good.' I'd only just taken it out of these new gloves. I'd taken them all out and they said: 'Yeah its better, but you've got to put them all back in'.

Be fair to the guy.

So it is because he might be pro-Clarke and you are not, does that mean he is Ged? I don't know about MC (Mr Casson), I would find that a pretty offensive statement, because I doubt you would be able to prove your statements that he is Ged in disguise.

And don't you think if he was Ged in disguise, we would have worked that out oh most estimated cricket pundit?

I'm not a Clarke fan myself, but the guy got a chance and he took it, give Clarke some credit for that.

You are probably right (I pray not though) but Australia's 2 down might be no loss or 1 down AND 200 runs might be 215 if Parthiv had been there to help them :p

Kidding. It might be worse :D

Our team has been playing so bad that now I dont even feel bad about our performance. KDK Karthik Gone. India 51/6. Dravid still there.

SJS, You think of me as a PP supporter, dont you ?? Trust me, I didn't want him in the team (as a wicketkeeper) either, But I wanted him as a batsman. I never wanted Chopra to be dropped from the team, because whoever replaced him would have come under great pressure to perform, I now feel sorry for Gambhir because now he will be under even more pressure to perfrom in the second innings and if he doesn't succeed, his career most likely is over.

While I type this is what is going on in Mumbai :-

29.6 McGrath to Kumble, FOUR, and again! pitched up outside the off
stump, driven away nicely to the cover boundary
29.5 McGrath to Kumble, FOUR, driven away to the backward point
boundary, excellent shot

And now two more :)

It's a purple patch alright for Clarke, but I don't doubt that he will be very good in future. The signs are there.

And yes, I quoted Andre, but that paragraph was addressed to Kyle, so I used his name. Unlike you, some people don't need to make 400 posts in a row.

Now I've had my say in the matter, I don't need to repeat myself any more, so I'm shutting up. No point in letting it degenerate into a flaming war.
