I agree. I think we'll have to wait a while before we see a decent young spinner go on any tours.Eclipse said:I dont rate Hauritz at all.. in his first year he looked really good he could actualy turn the ball and beat batsman in the flight.. but it's been ages since he has been enything other than a flat unpenitritive OD bowler.
It will be a big mistake if they play him IMO.. Cam White's not much better mind you.
Michael Clarke didn't have a great first class record either.Eclipse said:I dont rate Hauritz at all.. in his first year he looked really good he could actualy turn the ball and beat batsman in the flight.. but it's been ages since he has been enything other than a flat unpenitritive OD bowler.

Yeah but everywhere outside of Queensland was rating the kid big time. Hate to say "I told you so", Queensland... But that's not the point. I don't hear anyone touting Hauritz as anything special.Mister Wright said:Michael Clarke didn't have a great first class record either.

No he isn't.Mister Wright said:It wasn't just people outside of Queesland. Clarke had his knockers, as does Hauritz, he is just as likely as Clarke to have a stunning debut.
You have to be good to have a stunning debut.Mister Wright said:It wasn't just people outside of Queesland. Clarke had his knockers, as does Hauritz, he is just as likely as Clarke to have a stunning debut.
Yeah... Good at least. Clarke is brilliant, Hauritz isn't even good.Linda said:You have to be good to have a stunning debut.
Give the guy a chance. If he was from NSW you would be saying why he hasn't played sooner.Mister Wright said:It wasn't just people outside of Queesland. Clarke had his knockers, as does Hauritz, he is just as likely as Clarke to have a stunning debut.
Still doesn't justify a season average of 60-odd. And if he's picking up scraps...Well, then.mavric41 said:Give the guy a chance. If he was from NSW you would be saying why he hasn't played sooner.
The Gabba is not exactly a spinners wicket and he has often come on after the quicks have demolished the opposition and he can only pick up the scraps.
I suppose you would be pushing your namesake? With a bit more experiance he should be a shot.Mr Casson said:Still doesn't justify a season average of 60-odd. And if he's picking up scraps...Well, then.
Lets face it. If the test was played in Australia Hauritz wouldn't be playing but both he and White are young players who were taken on tour to learn from Shane Warne. Warne got injured and Hauritz was in the right place at the right time.Mr Casson said:Yeah but everywhere outside of Queensland was rating the kid big time. Hate to say "I told you so", Queensland... So they thought that Bracken and Williams were special last season? I think they were the best of a bad bunch, not special.mavric41 said:Lets face it. I don't think the Australians were ever going to play two spinners, that is why MacGill didn't tour.
The selectors obviously think that Hauritz and White have futures in the Australian team - they think they are special.
This is an about face. One minute, we should be giving young guys a go (because of their potential - see Clarke) next players have to earn it. In that case, shouldn't MacGill, Love, Maher, Symonds, Hussey and others be on tour ahead of either White & Hauritz or Clarke?Mr Casson said:So they thought that Bracken and Williams were special last season? My problem with Hauritz playing is not that he isn't good enough; he can play a million damn ODIs for all I care, but he isn't Test standard. My problem is the prostitution of the Baggy Green, which is a special thing to receive for those who have earned it. And no, he hasn't come close to earning it.
