I agree. It's a great idea, and I hope series after series is played in the coming years. Whether people believe India is 2nd best or not or whatever, there's no doubt in my mind that its become the most anticipated series in cricket, and has to keep occurring for the fans' sake, as well as the players I'd sure.

Regarding the ageing side, I agree. The history of Warne v Laxman, Tendulkar v McGrath and Harbhajan v Hayden will soon be gone as many of the great players will hang up the boots before the next series is played (at least I think so, when do India come to Aust. next?). That is a real shame!

Although I think Pathan v Clarke could be a real cracker in the coming years. :D

I think India are due in Australia in 2007, so we could see some of those players still playing. But with most of the Aussie players saying they have the 2007 World Cup as their goal it may be a bit of a stretch. Allthough if the likes of Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly & Kumble are still playing the Aussie players may like one more shot.

Wtf, sachin to open the bowling???Story here.
Well if they're playing 3 spinners...they'll only have Zaheer as the specialist paceman.

If Ganguly was there, he'd open the bowling, but SRT is the only other who bowls medium pace.

Now Sachin is going to open the bowling. hahahaha. It is getting funnier with every passing day. It looks more like a circus than a cricket series.

Exactly what i thought. When i first glanced the story i thought it was him opening the batting they were debating, which was a shock in itself, but when i realised it was him opening the bowling, well what can you say.........

I suppose the logic is , Sachin as opening bowler cant be worse than Yuvraj as opening batsman :p :p :p

Even bigger news: Shane Warne will not play after breaking his thumb.

So will it be Hauritz or White then? CricInfo seems to favour White, for some reason.

At least the talk of two specialist spinners in the team will now stop

That we are going to find out.

We already have Sehwag, Sachin, Kumble, Harbhajan as spinners. I dont understand why we need a fifth spiner especially when Sachin has been bowling regularly in tests and can be more effective than Murali Karthi on a spinning track.

I agree with you there. I think we should have played Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer and Nehra with Sachin to bowl his leg breaks in addition.

Wasim Akram says, Agarkar is a great cricketer!!! An article in Indian express...

However, he was full of praise for Irfan Pathan and Ajit Akarkar and their ‘individual performances’. ‘‘People raised a hue and cry when they said I coached Pathan. But coaching is not my area of interest. I can only give tips, based on my experience, to anyone who is interested. But if Irfan can improve so much by just after a couple of meetings with me, it is to his credit, not mine. Even Agarkar is a great bowler, if you ask me. He can bowl really well, bat well, and also field, but remains out of the team.’

A case of mistaken identity, perhaps??

Apparently it's raining.

Are you going for the match or came back?
I was planning on going only for the weekend.

Even that looks a bit doubtful at this moment since something has come up in my factory at Daman :@

It's hard to believe that a guy who has an ordinary first class bowling record will probably make his debut today. Hauritz is a good spinner but really needs to leave Queensland to refine his craft.

If India picks 3 spinners then maybe Kumble will open the bowling. He pretty much bowls medium pace. :D :D :D
