And it is still only 189/3, still A.Stewart, C.White, Giles to come plus whatever the current pair put on.
Well its Bichel and Warne vs Hussain and Crawley...both good players of spin...lets see what happens...]

Sheesh I'm tired:yawn: Lucky Hussain nearly got caught then :wow:

102 to avoid the follow on
102? Should get that...and hopefully Giles might actually score a 50 this time...he needs to!

Good to see Hussain getting off to a decent start. He could be a pivotal player in this Ashes series. His captaincy will be tested as much as his batting.

Australia managed to take a big lead of 167.England managed to put up a decent total thanks to Aussies clumsy fielding, if Aussies doesn't make the mistakes again, they might win the match in the end:)

Aus in the box seat, but how long do they go on tomorrow - I reckon that if they fancy a gamble it'll be just after lunch, but if England keep it tight, it'll be after tea, and 4 sessions to survive is possible.

It's imperative we bowl and field well first thing tomorrow - no slips are allowed now...

I disagree with that Marc, England if they want to save this test must attack Australia & get further into their middle order...Steve Waugh is still looking dodgy & if they can get rid of Hayden/Martyn & Waugh quickly they'll slow them down considerably unless Gilchrist gets going.

Putting everyone on the ropes would be a very negative tactic by Hussain and something England would have done a couple of years ago, I hope that won't happen tommorow.

I think you misintepreted my post - I just said we need to keep it tight, not put them all on the fence - we managed to keep it tight whilst attacking on the 2nd morning, and something similar to that is in need this time round.

Mcgrath's got 100 ashes wickets BTW, phenomenal achievement from him. England looking at a defeat with Australia 111-2 at the end of only day 3. I dont think it will be easy to bat out 4 sessions against the aussies.

Agreed with Marc :O

Must keep it tight. I can see the Aussies setting us 450-500 at about tea time. And then it's down to us to bat out four sessions on a fifth-day pitch v Warnie...

I don't know...he was rather ineffective in the English 1st innings...ok he had a few chances that weren't taken but he didn't seem anywhere near his best. England seem to have worked out a good plan to him...and Crawley plays spin very well, it looks like even though we have lost one RHB Legside Flicker in Mark Waugh...there's one nearly as good in "Creepy" Crawley.

i think you'll find that when the pitch starts turning more (today and tomorrow) they will srtruggle, but he may not get much of a chance depending on how teh quicks do

Lets see how Giles does, he's not a big turner and he usually needs a spinning pitch to get much turn. Doesn't mean he isn't effective when he's given a chance though...even I'm surprised he's beating Warne at the mo...4-101 vs 1-87 :D

Yup but it can predict a lot of things. Giles has bowled better so far. Its up to Warne to turn it up.

Well, Hussain has now admitted that it was a "big mistake" to put the Aussies in to bat after he won the toss.He is admitting now, what everybody felt all along.

Fending off the Aussie bowling for nearly a day and a half, specially in conditions that will help Warne is a big ask from this English batting lineup.
