Mox, I don't think this game's going to keep you up much longer. In bed by 4.30am, I should think.

Awww, man, this'll all be over before I'm home from work. Then again, I'll probably see the whole thin on highlights. :)

this is just disgraceful to watch, im sure even zimbabwe would put up a better fight than this. shows you what happens when you go into a series with just 1 proven batsman. i tend to agree with arjun here.....bring back read and play jones as a specialist batsman.....read is certainly a capable ODI batsman and hes in good form too?
if i were a selector, id inform michael vaughan that if he didnt pull up his socks he'll be dropped without hesitation. he isnt worth keeping just for his captaincy.

McGrath? Very ordinary indeed. He has a decentish test average courtesy of a couple of knocks against Zim last year, but there's no way he's going to smash it to all parts whilst our bowlers hang on at the other end.

oh ok

i know england have played some pretty poor shots.. but i think u have to give credit to the nz bowlers.. they have bowled some great balls..

Just as i say that another wicket.. mcgrath gone lol

bad idea, If you are gonna do that then leave jones as keeper and put in a proper batsmen like Bell, Key or Pieterson (who will be avaliable for the ICC Trophy).
Read is ok but is too much of a slogger (much like Blackwell) and we need someone who we can rely on to get runs and keep the run rate up not get out to a poor shot trying to get a 4 or 6.

hey just wondering.... why are there so few people at the ground ? they said 12,000..

For a ODI .. thats nothing...

Is it a small ground etc ?? .. and if so.. why r they playing it on such a small ground...

i was looking at this series.....that leaves pieterson out, key is a top order batsman so hes going to have to bat in the top 4(whos going to go down the order?) and bell doesnt seem to be in contention. the reason why i mentioned read was because he already has experience in the ODI arena and hes done well in the middle order
the problem here is inexperience...we must remember that its not just the lower-middle order thats failed, its the top order as well....so i dont think that another debutant will improve the situation.

I'm glad I didn't go in the end. Another thumping, another hopeless batting performance. Get rid of this squad and start again, because this side is not good enough. It's effing hopeless. Where are the specialist batsman? There are only 3/4. Strauss, Tres and Vaughan, with Collingwood a batsman who bowls a bit. The rest are bits and pieces, with the possible exception of Jones who is as yet unproven.

If England don't get some proper batsmen into that side, thewy might as well concede the remaining games to avoid further embarassment. Pathetic.

Why are they playing at such a small ground? Out of kindness, I would imagine. Mox, I'm not meaning to belittle the performance of the NZ bowlers, but 80 for 9 ain't entirely down to them, with all due respect. Sure the ball is moving around, but that's why a lot of the dismissals have been so thick. Any side with half a brain between them would realised that they're not playing in Mumbai and the first need is to establish some sort of foundation before letting rip. Unfortunately that's been beyond the ken of the English boys yet again, and it's this criminally stupid cricket that is really ****ing a lot of us off. It's one thing to lose, but for the second game in 4 days they haven't even competed.

I think the NZ bowlers should let Harmison reach 15 before closing up. :D That would be beautiful - top scorer, Steven Harmison. :)
