Heaphy looks strong on the back foot. Good to have him ton up so early in his career.
I'm thinking that Mariu and Heaphy should be our NZ A openers for a bit. Get some overseas experience into them as early as possible so they can make the right adjustments. Unsure who I would pick as the third A opener. Realistically, I don't see mid-career players like Cooper and Bowes ever hammering the door down.
Off the top of my head:

Heaphy
Young
Chapman
Nicholls
Hay, M./Chu
Foulkes/Abbas
Smith
Pringle/Ashok
Sears
Fisher
I don't see my middle order being popular but those guys are the clear best next guys in and we need to develop/resurrect them if possible, plus they will add some spine to the A side.
Quite a few bowling options. Sears might step out for someone else since I think he will go on tour with the Black Caps. I've left out some solid names.

Only problem i see with a Heaphy is that he’s opening pretty certain he’s not an opener

For CD U19s he opened, plus middorder, plus keeper.
Basically. Same as Latham at same age.
I don't know what he sees himself as. But based on his 'public' cricket so far (e.g. a level high enough to be in cricket archive ..) , I see no indication for "not an opener".

I think he’s a better middle order player that’s all
Chu bats too low. Always looks good and should be No6 at least. Nearly always finds himself batting with the bowlers within a couple of overs of coming in.

Also interesting that in a mammoth first innings, Abbas only bowled a couple of overs for Wellington. I suppose there is always a question with players like Abbas and Foulkes as to concentrate on one primary discipline over the other - but if he can't get a bowl in a pretty weak Wellington attack... Tashkoff didn't get much of a turn either - 18 overs compared to Younghusband's 42 overs.
