I think I asked this before, but how is Deepak Chougule playing ATM?
I would persist with Gambhir for the entire series unless he looks really out of form. No matter if he doesn't score and gets out to a momentary lapse of concentration, as long as he doesn't look out of sorts the team should try to make newcomers comfortable. Taking jaffer and not playing him might sound harsh, so if things are going fine, maybe the team might consider playing both him and gambhir in the third test. Like I said in the official england-india thread, it would be a good way to compare them both in identical conditions.adharcric said:I want Gambhir in for the first test, he shouldn't be dropped after a few bad matches. If he does poorly, bring in Jaffer for the 2nd test. As far as the bowlers are concerned, Pathan, Zaheer, Kumble and Harbhajan should play in every match. If a 5th bowler is required, it should be RP Singh, but it will be Agarkar ...
well lets hope that doesnt happen, because railways has genuine contenders in yadav and kartik (potential candidate parida, hypothetical candidate bangar & your own candidate pagnis). but this is more good news than bad news, because we need munaf patel and vrv singh to step it up and break into the national team more than we need jp yadav at the moment ... so i hope these two keep roaring on the domestic circuit ... along with piyush chawla, suresh raina and robin uthappaArjun said:Folks, be prepared for a massive shake-up in this domestic season. Railways have lost the first-innings lead, all out for 140. They've already suffered a few times because of this innings lead rule, and if they lose this match, they'll be relegated to the Plate division. The famous Munaf Patel finally broke the five-wicket jinx and took six. Wait and watch....maybe the Indian Justin Kemp will finish this season a more refined player. It will be unfortunate if Railways get relegated, especially for JP Yadav– relegation to the Plate division may just close the door on India hopefuls.
With that silly idea of playing out the last session rather than chasing down the target, they may just face a drop. Their chances of staying in the top tier improve thanks to Karnataka, who have defeated Delhi by a massive margin of over 100 runs.adharcric said:well lets hope that doesnt happen, because railways has genuine contenders in yadav and kartik (potential candidate parida, hypothetical candidate bangar & your own candidate pagnis). but this is more good news than bad news, because we need munaf patel and vrv singh to step it up and break into the national team more than we need jp yadav at the moment ... so i hope these two keep roaring on the domestic circuit ... along with piyush chawla, suresh raina and robin uthappa
Bengal are not a stable team, and often triumph on some very good performances by a few individuals. TN, on the other hand, play well as a team, especially in limited-overs matches.honestbharani said:Tamil Nadu have defeated Bengal by 222 runs. Nelson seems to have struck again. Ganguly has played another really good knock (Boy is he giving headaches to the team management) but the others have fallen apart around him. Jesuraj continues to impress with another 5 fer.
Knowing the rules beforehand does diddly-squat for you when you play attacking cricket for the straight win and the opposition play solely for the first-innings lead and the draw.viktor said:Its not as if they did not know the rules before hand. They did not perform as they should have; hence got relegated...big deal..
