So Is he actually coming for the Finals , is this confirmed ? I think this might be a good move , i know when it comes to Youth Policies that might sound right , but our Bowling attack lacks Experience , lacks a Person who has been there for a long time . Srinath is a good bowler , and i hope both he and Khan go well in tandem , in that way , Nehra hasnt been helping Khan at all , Khan is playing the Mcgrath , and Srinaths gotta play Gillespie ...

Latest News On Srinath

"The cricket Board on Friday ruled out replacing injured left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra with Javagal Srinath for the final of the Champions Trophy in Colombo, saying the team management had informed that there was no need for it.

Newly BCCI secretary S K Nair told reporters here that team manager K M Ramprasad had informed the Board that there was no need to replace Nehra at this stage.

Nehra, who had a split webbing in his bowling hand, is doubtful for Sunday`s final, team physio Andrew Leipus said.

Srinath, who is playing county cricket in England, had announced his retirement from Test cricket but had expressed his willingness to play in the one-dayers.

Nehra was injured during the semi-final against South Africa on Wednesday when he attempted to run out Jacques Kallis off his own bowling.

He split the webbing between the index finger and middle finger on his left hand and it required five stitches.

``There`s a question mark over him at the moment,`` Leipus said.

``He could still recover in time and a decision will made tomorrow. He has no problem gripping the ball, but we have to consider catching and other aspects.``

Seems to be a bit of a conflict, seeing as Sky TV indicated that he was on his way to the airport 15 minutes ago.

Yes, I think l_o_d's is an older article. Srinath is defintely joining the team for the final.

I don't think Sri Lanka could have engineered a better final for the local support.

I think I described it as the 'dream final' in the match report. Boy, I'm looking forward to it.

I think that it will be a FEAST of runs.

Murali vs Indians should be an intriguing clash. An important factor is that the SL support spinners in Jayasuriya, Chandana(Dharmasena) & De Silva are pretty good and the SL spin attack compares favourably to Harb, Kumble, Tendulkar, Yuvraj and Sehwag and the Indian batsmen will have to bring all their expertise to bear to counter them.

Great News Guys, India vs SL!

Man this will be a titanic battle b/w one of the best onedayer sides in the world.India will have to counter Muralitharan, and the player who can dent Lankan hope is none other than MARK2.
Whoever Wins this cup will become the fav's for the World Cup.Lets hope India give their best shot!:)

There are so many potential match winners on both sides. Who would have thought beforehand that Aravinda de Silva would be m.o.m. today for his bowling?

I'm certainly not going anywhere - it could be a classic. 300+ each with a bit of luck

I would say the chances are even for both the teams as they appear to have similar type of strengths with strong batting lineups and a spin-centric bowling attack that can use the conditions to the utmost.I think SL has a slight edge in that area with Murali, but again I would rate the Indian batting lineup slightly higher then the Lankans'.

All in all it should be an intriguing contest. And SL don't get beaten at Premadasa too often, but then India are among the only ones to have done the "Mission Impossible" at Premadasa.

My pick will be Lanka.

I think Lanka have a very strong batting line up, but same is the case with India.
However, Lankan Bowling attack is much stronger and i think Lanka won't allow Indian batters to dominate the match.
However one can't be certain about a oneday game.Lets hope that we will have a high standard game .

Well Guys, this will be one hell of a final.I personally think India is going to fight till the end, Lanka have the home advantage but they cannot tame the Indian tigers that easily.

Good news is that Nath is on the way and will be in the team, so bowling is become stronger.Batting is as usual stronger, though India will have to negotiuate the dangerous Muralitharan.

Difficult to predict as to who the winner will be:P

I disagree - the conditions and the random element mean this game has little effect on the World Cup IMO.

I'm going have a fiver on India though.

Little effect?? I know the conditions will be different in SA, but to say that the winner of this tour won't be considered as a contender for the cup is going too far

Then which teams are the fav for the WC besides Aus/SA in ur opinion?????
There is only one favourite - Australia, all others are in with a good chance, but by definition favourite is one.

I never said that. I was disputing the fact that winning this competition would make either SL or India the favourite to win the World Cup. It won't.
