I must say it's glaringly obvious people from Europe/America just don't get the Australian sporting mentality, even after the Webber years.

Piastri won't willingly be #2 for anyone and especially not a pom.

Also this is what happens when you hire two talents who know they can beat the other. McLaren tend to do this though even in the 00s post Coulthard.
It's got **** all to do with not getting the Australian sporting mentality and everything to do with not getting what the **** McLaren are playing at.

I'd be saying exactly the same if the roles were reversed and Piastri was in Lando's shoes as far as a title fight goes.

Lando is the best shout for the WDC and should be getting backed. The fact he isn't is ****ing insane.

Nah that would’ve been disgusting if they had Lando pass Piastri there.
How?

The drivers championship is more important and is the most visible championship for fans and sponsors.

You do what's best for the team, if this was red bull or wouldn't have even been a discussion.

Lando can win the world championship,, Oscar can't, not this year. And that first lap move hurt the team's over all results as well

Actually, the teams championship is more important. Its worth 10’s of millions per place.

If Lando wants to win the world championship he can go win it. This team orders **** is crap, unless its literally in the last race or 2. You want Oscar pulling over for 2/3rds of the season? Its total bull****. He completely outperformed Norris in every way in the race and you want him to just let him by? Whats the actual point of him ****ing racing then?

McLaren always hire the best 2 they can get their hands on and leave them to it. Raikkonen was greatly aided in his championship by it.

It's far more worthy of respect than the Barrichello bull****, and ensures Piastri doesn't piss off to Merc, Red Bull or whoever nails the next regs.

If you want to play team orders then hire a K Mag. This issue was written the moment they poached Piastri. They clearly believe he's WDC material.

Lando can learn to start a race and scrubs like Croft can learn F1 shouldn't revolve around Britain.

I'm well aware that the constructors pays a prize, I asked which was more important to the fans and advertisers.

When Max won in '21, did any give a **** that Mercedes won the constructors?

Yes, that's how the sport works, and has worked for decades. Red bull emplyes teams orders from the first few races if required, and they don't hesitate. It's about bringing home the championship and visibility to the team.

Red Bull did that with Perez because it's his job, and with Gasly/Albon because skill issue.

Ricciardo and Max were let loose, and the first to get a hint of favoritism left. Webber barely put up with it under Vettel, and is Piastri's manager.

McLaren are desperately trying to keep both drivers happy, badly. They'd have more credit in the bank with both drivers if the team didn't take the piss when WDC was still out if the question. I would not be surprised if Webber informed McLaren after Silverstone exactly what would happen next needless stitch up.

Do what exactly? Leave the team with the best car right now?

To go where exactly?

He sure would solve Red Bull’s problems.
Red Bull have courted Lando for years too.

Ferrari will need a new guy in 2 years when either Hamilton retires/refuses to be #2 or Leclerc gets sick of the meme strategy/refuses to be #2.

Merc will be spicy next season as well if the child is good from the start.

Not to mention Audi would throw all the money at either and Aston are about to have the best designer in the business.

You need two top guys to compete for the WCC now, and as insurance against your main boi finally giving Toto a pity date.

You don't believe Red bull doesn't have language in Max's contract about being no. 1? They wouldn't hesitate wrh the team rules if required.

Yes Ferrari would be an option, but are they really much better on the pit wall, and again that's in 2 years.

Merc has two drivers with "hopefully" bright futures.

No one wants to go to Audi and Aston is a mess right now.

Yes, Oscar is talented, but any team with half a brain would have called the switch and expect their man to follow directions, don't think that scenario would have played out that was anywhere.

When Lewis and Nico were fighting, it was at no risk to the team winning both championships, and it still tore the team apart and Toto was rumored to be willing to cut bait with either if Nico didn't suddenly retire.

The situation wouldn't have been any different anywhere else.

Agree with everything except I highly doubt Antonelli will be able to be consistently good from day one. Can see him having the odd really great day here and there, but there will definitely be some hiccups along the way imo.

Haven't watched that much F2 this year but everytime I have he hasn't exactly dispelled the talented but raw af perception I have had of him. Personally think he would have been much better off with a year at Williams or somesuch to learn before getting in to the Mercedes, but it wasn't to be.

Carlos Sainz should be in that seat IMO, but on the other hand even if Merc went that way I am not sure he would have been interested in solely being a stopgap driver

lol. This **** team orders from Red Bull over the years seem to have melted your brain. Do you not enjoy actual racing anymore?

The only times drivers should be swapping is if they’re on different strategies or one is significantly faster and has a chance to catch/pass someone else where the first does not. Or in the last race or two where the driver may desperately need the points.

Oscar is a great young talent and race winner, who has shown to be able to compete at a level with Norris. He’s not just about to jump into a Perez/Verstappen dynamic with a third of the season left, nor should he be forced to. That’s just daft.

Nothing to do with not enjoying racing, it's the fact that it's a business, and this isn't a close decision.

Sure even Mr. Brown has said that he acknowledges that he has to prioritize Lando going forward.

You have a driver, undeserved or not in this instance, who has a chance for a world championship for the team. Yes, you prioritize him.

Even Will was rolling his eyes when Zach was talking about Papaya rules, this isn't complicated, and definitely not unique, and certainly not setting a tone for future seasons.

Drama Drama Drama. Verstappen not having a great run but Lando goes out in Q1, failing to capitalise again. Great jobs from Colapinto and Bearman. Nice to see Perez going well. What the actual **** from Williams, rip Albon.
