I just did the sums for my side. I am $502,000 over budget, so I decided to have a look at who I would keep and who I would let go at this stage of the season, once I did that and had 10 players I was left with $1,314,000 which IMO should give me 2 pretty good players (or at least 1 very good, and 1 pretty good player) and the rest would fill up the rest of the cap, which is usually what would happen any way.
I didn't know if you wanted to relase the state of your finances or not Kyle - but I'm glad to see you looked at it objectively rather than immediately thinking the world is out to get you!

I'm $214,000 over..

Who came up with the formula for wages? :-O
I did - and Blewy will confirm that I took a raw list of players without any club allocations and worked through a formula (for reference purposes, the actual sheet used for calculations is 4,200 KB in size!

I then, when happy with both salary budgets and player demands, tallied everyone back together.

I'm $146,000 under my wage budget. I'd love to know how they're done though. As Porter is worth 402,000 and Hettiarachchi is worth 397,000 who are both **** in one form. But I have other players who are gun in both forms worth less or around the same number.. just want some clarification is all.
Everyone would love to know how they're done, but that will remain a secret I'm afraid!

I'm gathering player values will be updated after every season, yes/no?
As it stands, yes - I haven't quoted the rest of your post, but will bear it in mind.

However, until we've had a season of it, I don't know if it's a good idea to introduce it, because people may over-react in tieing players down then they find out that the player wasn't a bargain after all.

If we have a season, and people then see what effect on new salaries a season has, then we may consider including this.

So basicly if WageBudget= W, RunningCosts=R ,Values=V and Misc.(Physio etc.) =M. The optimum thing would be: (W-R)-M=V?
Nope, W and R are different costs, and 1 cannot be used for the other or vice versa!

marc, the one thing i can't quite figure out is that with current squads, some teams will went over budget with their current squads and some didn't???
In theory they did yes, but remember this wage budget is for next season, not this.

nibbs said:
the other i didn't quite understand was the differing wage demands of my players. better players are asking for less than players they are much better than??? were wages randomly calculated or what?
They were most defintiely not a random calculation.

I applied different criteria to each form of the game, then some weightings depending on effectiveness of a player for the game.

I'd be interested if you could email me regarding the players you think there's a discrepancy in.

thats 12 posts in a row, marc.. no wonder you wanted to introduce this :p

would a team get financial benefits for winning matches, or winning their division? and is the budget related to division, so that if one team gets promoted their budget increases?

I dont get the emails i got.. i got 3 emails.. two where the same and one said the budgets were recalled.. whats this about?

Top stuff Marc. I'm starting to feel much better about this already after all of that is cleared up.

On the subject of not releasing formula, I guess it doesn't really matter. Becuase you do have a formula so it's atleast going to be consistent which is probably all that matters.

My apologies - I sent you the wrong budget information first one up.

The correct figures are the lower ones I'm afraid!

Budget is partially based on winning games (because they establish the position in which the club finish!)

Wages are also related to divisions to an extent.

but if a team wins a match, would they then and there be granted some money?

No.

I think I should clarify that budgets and running costs will only be updated between seasons.

Marc two questions:

Do you have to give a sign-on fee for players you
plan to immediately release when trading?

What would be the suggested amount to keep for a very
active trader?

marc71178

Any player who you sign on trading you have to pay the 10% to, regardless of whether you are keeping him or trading him on or anything.

I wouldn't have a clue what to suggest to keep - but if you look at the players you traded last time, you can get a rough estimate of how much they would've cost you to trade in.

in theory would teams who are over budget now, be forced into having a weaker line up next season???
