English Domestic Season 2011

Graham Onions is back among the wickets again, he took Lyth for a duck in his first over. Has been wayward since, though, conceding plenty of extras. Yorkshire now 43/1.

Meanwhile things are going from bad to worse for Somerset. Varun Chopra has reached his first FC double century as Warks have added 56 runs without in the first hour today to reach 471/6. Chris Woakes has also reached his 50.

Notts made a good start to their reply of 218 with an opening stand of 33 before David Griffths came on at first change and knocked over both openers' stumps. Notts are currently recorving with Hales and Patel, 46/2.

See Finn got rid of Bopara.

Hopefully Durham keep up the good work, don't mind if Root scores a few though. Be nice if Samit score some as well.

Woakes is going to be pretty good cover for the likes of Broad and Bresnan

Not happy about the match situation but delighted for Onions. Gives England and extra option too if he can prove his fitness.

FC Average watch :
Stuart Broad - 1959 @ 25.11 (1 century, 12 50s); 261 @ 29.23 (21 4+, 12 5fers, 1 10WM)
Tim Bresnan - 2976 @ 27.30 (3 centuries, 14 50s); 268 @ 31.93 (16 4+, 4 5fers, 0 10WM)
Chris Woakes - 1546* @ 32.20 (4 centuries, 3 50s); 167 @ 25.55 (18 4+, 9 5fers, 2 10WM)

So Woakes already has the most centuries and 10WMs. That's despite the fact he's played half as many games as Bresnan and 2/3 as many as Broad.

Yeah there is going to be plenty of competition for the pace bowling spots over the next few years.

I suppose we will be going in with a starting attack of

Broad, Anderson, Tremlett, but Onions will still be fighting with the likes of Finn, Bresnan & Shazhad for one of those spots with another tier below them with the likes of Woakes, James Harris, Plunkett. At least it means that we don't have to go back to the like of Harmison and clowns like Mahmood are far enough away from selection.

Me thinks Yorkshire will be following on. 6 down now and in all sorts of trouble.

Make that 7.

Agree with you, I really can't remember us having such depth, which is probably just as well, as they keep getting injured. The only thing I disagree about is Plunkers, hoping he stops getting A-team spots and is discarded like Saj.

What a ****ty day. Total failure from Yorkshire and Essex's almost colossal level of ineptitude is ruining my trip to the capital.

listening to the BBC online radio, as so often happens they've left the mikes on and the channel open, so we can overhear their conversations...and it looks like the rumour round the commentary box is that Durham have not enforced the followon

Over the last two years we have used 8 different bowlers each year.

2009 - Sidebottom, Flintoff, Harmison, Broad, Anderson, Khan, Onions, Bresnan
2010 - Anderson, Broad, Onions, Sidebottom, Bresnan, Finn, Shahzad, Tremlett
2011 - Anderson, Tremlett, Bresnan..........

The Test bowling stocks, which should be enough for the rest of the year.
Broad
Onions
Finn
Shahzad
Woakes

Don't think Plunkett is anywhere near Test cricket. He is still bowling balls going down the leg side and really should go back to his original action.
