wouldn’t a little of both be the way to go? Maybe the speed of Tongue and the height of Robinson. The latter has a good test record while Tongue is younger than the always seemingly injured Stone.
Tongue equally fits the description of "....the always seemingly injured..." He's been ruled out of most of this season, replaced by his franchise. Certainly won't be playing the WIndies tests.

Tongue should be ready for the SL series. This is his first injury.
Robinson after being hit for 43 in an over - will the selectors notice this? 189.3 overs 21 wickets at 27.85
Woakes only playing his first cc game - 34.0 overs 1 wicket at 85.00
Cook injured 152.1 overs 29 wickets at 13.62
Atkinson 136.0 overs 14 wickets at 29.78
Potts 183.3 overs 17 wickets at 37.17 - batting 50.00
Stokes 63.1 overs 15 wickets at 16.40
Snater 173.4 overs 25 wickets at 22.76 - batting 44.40
Mahmood 46.0 overs 2 wickets at 86.50
Stone 112.2 overs 9 wickets at 41.88 - batting 46.66
Fisher 97.0 overs 9 wickets at 37.33
Wood 0
Anderson 0
Archer 0

Your big mistake here was assuming they give half a **** about county Cricket. If they did Dawson would have been on the plane to India

If this is Josh Tongue's first injury there must be other reasons that since he made his first class debut in 2016 he has only played one full season of championship cricket (in 2017) and not played more than 5 county championship games in any season since 2018. Add to that he has hardly played much list A or T20 either since debuts in each in 2017.

I think (or hope) he means first this season.

Probably, but it was in response to him (Tongue), like Stone, equally fitting the description of "....the always seemingly injured..." comment. i.e. injured at some time in most seasons, like Mahmood. Not like Anderson. Do they ever fully recover?

He didn't want to go and be a drinks carrier. That's before he found out the three spin bowlers selected were Ahmed, Hartley and Bashir.

Glad Bairstow is gone but it is ridiculous to pick the Surrey number 2 keeper. Rew or Robinson have done more in the last 12/18 months to deserve being picked.

Dillon Pennington from my home town is picked. Good luck to him.

Honest first impressions of that squad upon reading is that it's weaker than I've seen for a long time, especially on the bowling front. At the very least, without Jimmy after the first test, it is extremely green.

Because we're so weak at batting, and I assume the pitches will be flat to suit bazball style, I believe England will win comfortably, but if our lineup can't score runs in England against that attack, it feels like they never will.
