Mahatma Gandhi's death in 1948 ?

Players wore black bands as the Melbourne test was played one week later between India and Bradman's Australian side.

NO. For the purpose of this question let's assume that Gandhi was atleast a part of the political sphere.

Any hints ? Maybe the decade in which it happened ?

Final Guess : King George VI died in 1952 while an India-England match was in progress. Was it him ?

Good question. Tough without being obscure :)

The last five players to have done this are Nasser Hussain, Aravinda de Silva, Saeed Anwar, Murray Goodwin and Mohammad Azharuddin (players who are likely to play more tests excluded). Three Indians have done this, the others being Vijay Manjrekar and Vijay Merchant.

What feat is this ?

The record for fielders other than wicketkeeper who have taken greater than 100 catches in Test cricket .

Odd man out Dravid - because he keeps in ODIs

Then the odd man out is Azhar (because he fielded in the covers quite a bit rather than the slips IIRC) or Viv Richards (because he also fielded more in the field rather than in the slips) , while everyone else in that list of 20 are slip fielders.
