2004/05 Australian domestic season thread

Nice that Tait got that 5-fer, hopefully a reflection of things to come...
I think Cleary is better though, has more control, and apparently he bowled very well.

Looks as if Mike Hussey is going to get his first (?) double ton tomorrow, and Marsh going for a ton. WA in a strong position, after some shaky periods.

Do you mean 1st double ton in Australia or ever. Because I am pretty sure he got a triple ton during one of his English seasons.

I hope Kruger gets called up, he was great against SA last season.....

as a side note, Kruger actually went to my school (graduated in 2000 i think), and he returned this year as a student PE teacher during the offseason. has a nice car.

So he got the double... and yeah I meant Australia (but I didnt realise he had THREE overseas!). And Marsh got his century. He's all class that boy.

His dropping from the Australia 'A' side last year was definitely harsh.

You're talking about a double in Australia. The three overseas that were mentioned were TRIPLES. Even better! :)

Yeah I know, it was just a vague post.

On the news I saw that WA had got Tassie to 7/130-odd (cricinfo is about 4 days behind on the scoring). We're going to slaughter them it seems. Not at all what I expected from these two matches, thats for sure.

Expect Tassie to improve as the seson rolls on. Their batting line up will be bolstered by the return of Bevan.

Yes - points wise, but not really, when you look at ramificaitons of the match. We will be without Martin Love until after Christmas (fingers crossed for an earlier return). This makes our middle order even less experienced. We will be relying too heavily on Symonds and Maher to score all our runs, it is very important that Clinton Perren steps up. I think either Phillipson or Kruger will take Love's spot, although don't be surprised if the name May appears on a Qld scorecard this season, he has been scoring a mountain of runs for the country side. Another worrying thing to take out of this match is that apart from Bichel and Dawes, no other bowler really threatened. I hope the selectors seriously consider replacing Noffke with Mackenzie.

One very good positive to come out of the match is Hopes' battin performance, he will need to continue that form for the remainder of the season if Qld are to be competitive.

Any South Australian fans up for an avatar bet?
After some computer problems it appairs I'm back. But I would tend to agree with you. Is it me or is James Hopes is turning out to be a very under-rated cricketer (accuss me of Queensland bias if you want) and Stuart MacGill an under-rated one-day bowler?

Anyway Kyle, can you please give me a time and place to meet you this Saturday? Will speak on MSN if I see you.

Yeah man, sure thing. Usually sit in section 67 at the start of the game, then move around when we feel like it. But yeah, catch me on MSN & I'll send you an email with my mobile number so you send me a text.

But yeah, I think James Hopes would have more to offer an Australian team than Ian Harvey, but I doubt he will get the recognition he deserves, but if he keeps performing he should be in the selectors minds....wait, what am I on about? He's a Queenslander, it won't matter how well he performs. :@

James Hopes still has more to do for me to convinced of his worth. He reminds me a lot of Ian Harvey but I have never been a big fan of his. A couple of freak occurences should not overshadow the otherwise mediocrity of Harvey's play.

Qld had a good start to the season seeing Martin Love didn't contribute at all (run wise). Symonds was great. I hope he can get another go at test level. It was a hard spot to make your debut (Sri Lanka).

Tait fired up for SA and I would like to see him get a go sometime during the summer.

Brett Lee shouldn't be in India. His future would be better served playing for NSW and getting match fitness.

It would be good to see Hussey get some runs. It might stop Brad Hodge from getting picked for Aust. Hodge is very overrated IMO.
