Welcome back Mav. Missed ya' around here.
Thanks mate. Its nice to be appreciated. I've been spending my winter following the Lions, Broncos and Cowboys but now that its warming up and Australia is playing tests again I'll be around more often. We Queenslanders have to stick together.

Aint that the truth! Just because it isn't cricket season doesn't mean you should disapear, we've had some very fruitful discussions in the off topic about the NRL.

Was at the 'Gabba for most of the game yesterday. N.S.W. were lucky in the first session that both Mail & Jaques were out fo no-balls, it only prolonged the inevitable. I left the ground at lunch to go to uni with N.S.W. 1 for 70 odd, when I returned about 1/2 an hour after lunch N.S.W. were 5/ 114, then after sitting there for 1/2 an hour I was thinking maybe I should leave again, but then Dawes picked up Krezja (he looks allright, but is a little loose outside offstump). Then the wickets fell at regular intervals, Haddin batted well to give them some kind of competitive total. Dawes is on a hat-trick for the second innings. I had to leave pretty much as Qld went into bat, but I stayed for a few overs, enough to see Perren go, and unfortunately when I got home I heard Love was out.

On N.S.W. - Thornely has nothing! :p Haddin & Jaques are going to be there mainstays, if they don't make runs I don't know where they are going to get them. They will rely heavily on their bowlers, but apart from MacGill and to a lesser extent Nicholson that also looks thin. Will be interesting to see how Krezja goes.

On Qld - Bichel is no Kaspa, but he is worth his weight in Gold to the team. I know Noffke bowls tight, but he just doesn't threaten, I wonder how long he will be persisted with - Bring in Mackenzie! Dawes is full of class, magical bowling yesterday. I couldn't believe Chris Simpson didn't get a bowl, it wasn't like wickets were falling regularly & Symonds wasn't bowling that well.
Qld's batting does look a little thin if Love, Maher & Symonds don't make runs, but Secome can bat well and the tail isn't the weakest in domestic cricket, with Simpson a regular opener at 2nd XI level.

Will be interesting to see how this match pans out, hopefully Qld win so I can keep my avatar.

Queensland made 209 all out, therefore lead by 6 runs against nsw.

Yes, very disapointing. And now N.S.W. are about 2/110. However, Jaques is gone, so once Thornley goes cheaply tomorrow, we should have a good crack at the middle order and restrict the lead as much as possible. But the Qld top order will need to stand up a little more.

Nice and overcast here this morning - perfect bowling conditions.

nsw bowled out for 245, bichel 7/77 (bad form? doubt it!!)

qld were 1/0 then 2/11 with Bracken taking the wickets of Simpson for 0 and Maher for 2. Love is out injured and may not play until after Christmas, meaning that Simpson opened with Perren moving to 3. He and Symonds put on an unbeaten 105 run stand before bad light and rain stopped play... Symonds scored 71 of the 105, he is on fire at the moment, it's great to see him consistently scoring for Queensland. Only need about 124 or so tomorrow, the last day, but rain is predicted for much of the day....

What happened to Love? The new website sucks - no info.

p.s. I love your avatar - can I use it as well?

Nice to see that all 3 matches this weekend are close. But big injuries already, Bevan has an achillies problem or something, Love dislocated finger or something I think and Meulman with a shoulder... which sucks.

it seems the best place to get updates this season will be at foxsports.com.au ..... the baggygreen website has also been slow, but now it doesn't even give live scores for the domestic games which makes it worthless.

no play yet on day 4.

Yeah, and it doesn't look good either. Clouds everywhere. Although if the rain can hold off for a few hours the 'Gabba does dry quickly.

Queensland just won by two wickets - just the start we need.

Yes - points wise, but not really, when you look at ramificaitons of the match. We will be without Martin Love until after Christmas (fingers crossed for an earlier return). This makes our middle order even less experienced. We will be relying too heavily on Symonds and Maher to score all our runs, it is very important that Clinton Perren steps up. I think either Phillipson or Kruger will take Love's spot, although don't be surprised if the name May appears on a Qld scorecard this season, he has been scoring a mountain of runs for the country side. Another worrying thing to take out of this match is that apart from Bichel and Dawes, no other bowler really threatened. I hope the selectors seriously consider replacing Noffke with Mackenzie.

One very good positive to come out of the match is Hopes' battin performance, he will need to continue that form for the remainder of the season if Qld are to be competitive.

Any South Australian fans up for an avatar bet?
