The other thing is that Langer is returning to WA as their captain, and yet Warne isn't?? Either Victoria just ignored that they'd have Warne for half the season or they made a conscious decision to leave White as is for the entire season.
Unsure about Warne and Victoria, but Langer is our official captain for the season, and Hussey is his vice. So naturally when JL comes back Hussey will step aside.

Cameron White was appointed outright captain of the Victorian teams at the knowledge that Warne will be available later in the year. This means that yes, Cameron White will still be the captain. Warne will most-probably fill in a vice-captaincy role.

White is the assigned Captain. Jon Moss will probably captain that team. I'm sure Warne has never played with quite a few of those players, so he wouldn't exactly know their traits and credentials, and whilst he is a very brainy cricketer, I too would pick somebody who "knows" the side.
Just because he doesn't play for Victoria regularly doesn't mean he doesn't know what the players do or are capable of, surely he isn't that dosile. Oh wait a minute, wasn't he the guy who decided to take pading our of his glove because he thought he could hit the ball better?

Go Northey!! Keep that batting together :D

Glad to see Casson playing... The Australian team can keep Hogg!

He certainly got them enough runs, because they won by 32 runs. He was due some runs, had a shocking series for Australia A - so good on him. Hodge is in shocking form at the moment another failure. :D

It is also a great win for Qld, as they are now guaranteed the home final if they can get one more win this season.

Don't forget Beau Casson!! 3/34 with the wickets of Elliott right when needed, the in-form Cameron White and... Graeme Rummans I think. Dave was probably there, I'd like to know how he bowled, because he said Casson was great at the Twenty20 match the other night and the figures are starting to stack up.

lol i was talking to hodgie today at the game when he was fielding at fine leg, funny bloke. got him to autograph my mobile phone , coz everyone was yelling at him coz he fielded a ball with his feet over the line but that didnt call it a four, so me and my mates decided to be his fan club and gave him a standing obation everytime he fielded it.

surprised to see Chris Rogers as twelfth man, was he injured or something because surely anybody would choose him over Voges(hasnt done much since that fastest ever hundred).

^ Word. Voges is wholly unimpressive to me. Looks a one-hit wonder, sadly. To think I was almost prepared to eat humble pie about everything I'd said about Voges to that point. Mind you, I put it down to the crappy North Sydney Oval. I gave it a hell of a serving that day, with the farce that game was.

Suddenly forgotton about the solid 50 in the last match against NSW or something?

Sorry, can't drop a bloke who has hit a 50 in his last ING match, despite if he was having a bad trot in between drinks. Also Rogers obviously wasn't injured, as he fielded the whole Victorian innings with little difficulty - was on the field for Northy who I can only assume was just having a break after flying in from Adelaide the night before and having a good knock of 71.

Rogers sitting out I'm certain was just a case of having too many batters in the squad of 13 they selected. I was tossing it up with Hakon (Samuel_Vimes) last night actually, saying they had selected 3 openers (Langer, North and Rogers) in the 13 man squad, so someone would have to dip out.

Bloody hooligans in the public seating area ;)

As I told you on MSN, Bobo bowled brilliantly (what else would a Scarborough player do? ;) ). He was getting some nice bounce and turn off the WACA, and his wrong'un was on target, had the lefties padding up all around it, and the righties playing outside the line and missing by a large margin. He's really hitting his straps with Hoggy out of the team, making the most of his oppertunities.

is Maggofin injured?
Don't think so, he's been named in the WA Pura squad to take on the Vics this Sunday, and has been left out of the Melville side, so at this stage I'd say he isn't injured, however if he makes a non-appearence for both teams it'd be safe to say there is something wrong.

BTW the WA Pura squad to take on Victoria on Sunday as follows:

Pura
Justin Langer (c )
Michael Hussey
Ryan Campbell
Beau Casson
Brett Dorey
Ben Edmondson
Murray Goodwin
Kade Harvey
Steve Magoffin
Shaun Marsh
Marcus North
Chris Rogers
Brad Williams

Tough to decide who they will leave out. Just flicking through the squad i'd guess at Harvey and Marsh, but it's late and I can't say I studied it too hard.

/end of long post.

^ Cheers for that Dave. It shows you the value of Northey that even when out of form and jetlagged, they still pick him over other quality openers, eh!?

Also, for the Pura Cup, do you think it would be possible for Ronchi to break through as a batsman? I imagine he's a better 'keeper than Campbell (haven't seen much of either of them lately), so maybe even Campbell could play as a batsman (unless they want someone better). I just think Ronchi is looking too good to leave out of any WA team at the moment. I remember he broke into state-level cricket in the FC team, didn't he? Made 90 or something.

Correct, played his first Pura in 2002/2003 against Tassie. Same game that Casson and Voges made their Pura debuts, too, I believe. Ronchi ended up with 90 in the first innings (top scored) and about 30odd in the second. Memory hurts going back that far ;) But it was a pretty galant effort by the young keeper, batting below Harvey! He ended up getting 3 half centuries in 3 matches that season, and didn't play a a Pura game in 2003/2004.

But I think it will be a while before he gets back into the FC team, especially while Cambo is there and fit. At the present time we are pretty good for batting, Marshy and Meuleman are fringe players and I'd expect them to get the nod before Ronchi. But given a couple of injuries, it is a good chance.

On other notes, just had a look at the named PM XI team, From WA: Ronchi, Edmondson and Rogers. Side to be captained by Bevan, other players include Daniel Cullen, Dom Thornely, Mick Lewis and Travis Birt. Good to see Ronchi has impressed someone :)

Thornely's pathetic!

Qld scored 4/267 against N.S.W. Perren 64 & Bichel 62, guess who went for 34 off his 5...didn't take you long did it?...That's right: Thornley.

We have our answer: Magoffin is playing.

I went to the clash between Queensland and NSW. NSW were pathetic. The two batsmen who were doing well (Cowan and Packman) were both run out. :-O
