well, queensland picked up their second double bonus point win of the season, reaching the 208 target in 24.1 overs. hopesy opened and made 73 off 46 in his return match, and Symonds hit some good form with 62 not out off 35 balls. Great stuff.

Return match?

Hopes hasn't missed a game this season, he was injured at the end of the Pura Cup game against Victoria, but he hasn't missed again.

Queensland all but have the home final now. Tasmania will struggle to hold onto second place with Victoria breathing down their neck.

Well, just looked at the table and they're no longer breathing down their necks, they are ahead of them. And if N.S.W. can beat W.A. it will leave it as a three horse race with Qld, Victoria and Tasmania, W.A. will require a huge finish if they lose to N.S.W.

My bad. Although losing to N.S.W. is almost equal to beating yourself.
It is equal. How many teams lose to NSW and don't beat themselves afterwards for it?

just like to canvas some opinions, and see if anyone would like to stick their head out and say at htis point who will win the Pura Cup and ING Cup players of the year.

i'll have a stab:

Pura - M. Hussey (on the back of a huge second half of the year)
ING - James Hopes/Michael Bevan

and can someone enlighten me on how blignaut is performing in grade cricket in tassie?

When Qld win both titles, I think Pura Cup player will go to Bichel and ING to Hopes.

When they win?? Don't get me wrong, I've no doubt that Queensland will host the final... but they'll choke like usual.

Even if we make both finals and somehow choke, those players would still get players of the year for each competition.

For the final this year Qld won't be missing key players like they did in the previous two seasons. In 2002/2003 we were without Maher, Symonds, Hauritz & Bichel due to World Cup commitments and in 2003/2004 we were without Secombe & Kasprowicz. This year we likely lose one regular player in Watson or two in Symonds or Watson due to the timing of the New Zealand test and one day tours, this won't be as much of a burdon as in previous years, due to fringe players getting more experience and performing this season.

All this talk about Queensland...

Excuse me, I meant the conceited "Queensland are simply impossible to beat" overtones are tiresome.
So? Grow up. We had to hear about how much better W.A. were than Qld during the off season.

So? Queensland are having a happy run of form. It won't last very long; when the half of QLD players that are domestic bullies or purple-patch plodders are exposed you won't have a leg to stand on.
