So? Queensland are having a happy run of form. It won't last very long; when the half of QLD players that are domestic bullies or purple-patch plodders are exposed you won't have a leg to stand on.
That's bound to happen when you win 5 titles in 10 years and make six consecutive finals. It can't last forever.

Settle down ladies, no need to get too agressive towards one another - save that for the next time a certain Darren Wates is within 100m.

Absolutly disgraceful performance. Why he replaced Magoffin is beyond me, he adds a little more with the bat, but general fielding and bowling he's miles behind Steve.

It would be reasonably fair to say he did ALOT in losing that game for us. Can't heap the blame on him 100% but his efforts sure were pathetic.

Give us more detail. The Cricket Australia website is confusing.

Foxsports news website has it covered. Wates dropped two catches: Katich in the forties and Cowan right towards the end. Both catches cost six runs, with Katich making another 40 or so and WA only losing in the second last (?) over.

1. Katich was on 49, Wates was fielding down long on, Katich lofted a ball down towards him, just above head height reasonably simple catch that he fluffed. Straight through his hands for 6. Katich then went on to make 80 odd?

2. NSW had the long tail (Bracken, Bollinger, Clark, Lee, Bradstreet). Bracken was batting with Ed Cowan (last recognised batter), he did a near identicle thing that Katich did and hit one down to Wates off Hoggy's bowling, Wated palmed it over the rope, another 6 froma dropped catch. Given that it was coming down to the last over or so it was a crucial catch. IF he had of taken it, Ed Cowan would of been out and Kade Harvey would of had the final over to bowl at Bracken and Stuart Clark with them needing roughly 10ish off the final over. (Given minus the 6 from Wates's mistake, and minus the 4 they hit to finish off the game)

If Darren Wates never plays again, or alternatively gets shot in the head, Ill be more than happy.

why the hell is Darren Wates playing when you have somone like Sean Ervine playing second X1 cricket.. make's no sense at all.

Life doesn't always make sense, it isn't the first time something has been unexplainable.

Ervine is struggling something cruel, if he was put into the WA side with no hard stats at grade level to back it up, I'm sure some people would be crying foul.

While undoubtedly he has talent and skill, he is struggling to lay good performances down for Freo in the 2 day comp. However his 1D form has been reasonable, last game he got 30 and a 0/24. Game before that was 2/7 off 5, 4/17 off 6, 1/34 off 9. Averaging 11.7 with the ball and 16 with the bat in the 1D comp.

On other bits of news, WA and Vic have named squads for the Dellaware-North 20/20 game thats being held at the WACA on Jan 12th.

RETRAVISION WARRIORS
Justin Langer, Murray Goodwin, Kade Harvey, Ryan Campbell, Brett Dorey, Ben Edmondson, Brad Hogg, Shaun Marsh, Scott Meuleman, Luke Ronchi, Adam Voges, Darren Wates, Brad Williams and Peter Worthington.

VICTORIAN BUSHRANGERS
Shane Warne, Ian Harvey, Matthew Elliott, Nick Jewell, Jonathan Moss, Tim Welsford, Adam Crosthwaite, Graeme Rummans, Brad Knowles, Shane Harwood, Liam Buchanan and Ian Hewett.

Interesting to see Ronchi and Campbell both named in the squad, will be interesting to see what they do in regards to the final XI. Luke is by far the better keeper, but Ryan's explosive batting and experience is hard to look past (think back to the days where he was sent in to open and given a licence to go nuts). Then again they could play Campbell as a specialist batsman and give Ronchi the gloves. Also depends if Williams is willing to come back for the match, or wait a few more days til the Pura Cup match.

No Mick Lewis?? Oh yeh, Australia A committments on the previous day. Hmmm... good luck to Victoria... that is not a full strength side without Hodge, Hussey & Lewis. Warne might give a boost in the bowling department. Knowles, Welsford, Moss, Buchanan & Harvey all need to step up with bat

Elliott and Harvey are your big keys with the bat. Harvey has had some success over in England in the 20/20 format (HS of 108* off 59 balls).

Tis a bit dissapointing losing all the Aussie A players (2 Hussey boys, Lewis, Hodge, White and Northy) but still should be a top game.

so will shane warne be captain once cameron white returns?? i've got a feeling the answer is cameron white would remain in the position which i'd find staggering given shane warne has the best cricketing brain of any player in the world.

White is the assigned Captain. Jon Moss will probably captain that team. I'm sure Warne has never played with quite a few of those players, so he wouldn't exactly know their traits and credentials, and whilst he is a very brainy cricketer, I too would pick somebody who "knows" the side.

Nah, apparently Warne and Langer are the 2 respective captains for the 20/20 game.

interesting... Well, I guess it is a 20-over match. If it were a 50 over match I'd pick the players who know the team for captain. Nothing wrong with it in this case.

while that's a fair enough call, warne has played with a lot of the players before, and in any case is professional enough to handle the situation. I suppose i just find it ridiculous that the world's best leg spinner is going to be taking orders from a spin bowler that is about one thousandth the bowler shane warne is, and less.

The other thing is that Langer is returning to WA as their captain, and yet Warne isn't?? Either Victoria just ignored that they'd have Warne for half the season or they made a conscious decision to leave White as is for the entire season.

I suppose my point is that, for instance, if Ponting were to get the chance to play a few games for Tassie, would dan marsh seriously keep the captaincy?? i doubt it, although i do notice that ponting is actually named as the tassie's 'official' captain.

ah well, here's hoping the vics get thrashed in the rest of their games.

Lets all remember, in regards to captains and such, that its not an offical match. There are no points.
