They were really conducive to reverse swing though.

Hmmm, posting shrunk it for some reason.

You always do what the opposition would least like, as Chappelli continually says. Australia should try and bat until India has no chance.

    India Burnt Out?

The original post I responded to call them a ridiculously young team so that was what my post was about. I actually think that India has 3 quality batsmen in Vijay, Pujara and Kohli and possibly a fourth in Rehane. I also think India is finally heading in the right direction with the fast...

    India Burnt Out?

Then you really have not much to worry about. Most players continue to hold their form until at least their early 30s. You can realistically expect them to maintain this level of play for another 5 to 6 years, at least. Their form will slowly decline over time after that.

    India Burnt Out?

I was using prime as the part of their careers where they are making consistent positive contributions to the side (apologies for confusion over use of terms). Modern cricket suggests that they might be a year or two away from peak form (except Vijay and Dhawan) but there should certainly be no...

    India Burnt Out?

Well, that is a different argument entirely. You are not arguing they are too young but that they are too inexperienced. I also was not arguing that they are bad players, just that history suggests that you should not expect their form to improve markedly. One or two will get better possibly...

Dhawan 29 Vijay 30 Pujara 26 Kohli 26 Rehane 26 Sharma 27 Dhoni 33 Shami 24 Yadav 27 Sharma 26 Ashwin 28 What facts did I get wrong? They look mostly mid to late 20s to me.

    India Burnt Out?

Steve Smith is 25. David Warner is 28. Michael Clarke was an established test batsman by 26. Mitchell Marsh is 23 and should be well established in the side by 25 on current pace. Ganguly, Sehwag and Dravid for India were the same. All were firmly established in the side and performing well...

    India Burnt Out?

I might wait another series or two before making a final judgement. I am old enough to remember Chris Broad.

    India Burnt Out?

Most of the Indian players are in their mid to late 20s. That is the prime of the career for a test player. You can't use age as an excuse.

We have a very different view of what is cheating. Players should always have the right to appeal and this should never be considered cheating. Bowlers appeal when they know it is not out all the time. If it is obviously not out, then umpires should know. You are trying to push the umpire's...

I think you are being way too harsh on the players here. Fieldsmen can often be deceived into thinking those carried. Players should appeal and let the umpire sort it out.

How has Smarsh conned all these coaches and commentators into thinking he is a good player?

Chappelli at least made challenging declarations as a captain. It is particularly ironic when Bill "700 in front" Lawry pushes for the early declaration.

I tried to think of another useless player who had gotten more tests. Came up blank.

Indians, Pakistanis and South Africans have been known to address comments to Australian batsman in languages they know they don't understand. How is that tactical?

    ***Official*** India in Australia 2014-5

In Australia, it is generally considered culturally insensitive to speak in a language that not everyone present understands when there is an alternative. Australians don't complain about it because they know that there is a difference between cultures.

Charles Bannerman. The fact that he still holds the record for highest score by an Australian on debut and also highest percentage of runs scored in an innings is just amazing

Is this just a thing that Australia cops? Every tour by India there just seems to be one huge partnership by players in ridiculously good form. I thought with Laxman gone Australia might have been spared this time.
