    The Inaugural World Test Championship

I don't like the Big 3 cartel either but it's hard for any objective viewer to deny that NZ's schedule has been significantly easier than India/Australia/England's. They deserve their ranking, but no harm in admitting the obvious. Assuming NZ do make it to the final. Will they play their away...

    4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

Fair enough, I must have got confused with the 1248911 other times he was dropped in the series. The drop was an absolute sitter though

    4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

Labuschagne got a hundred so you can't really point the finger but you would expect a player of his caliber to have really punished us for all those drops and got to 200.

I like the knockout idea as well. If it's a draw, play an ODI as a tie-breaker IMO.

    Australia's Mental State

Starc was garbage, Lyon was unpenetrative and some of their batsmen are very ordinary. We know that. The rest is pointless psychoanalysis fluff after losing to a great cohesive team effort for the ages. Plug some of these holes and they'll be fine in South Africa.

Was 2016 South Africa tour at home the biggest loss for Australia in recent years?

Yea let's hold on the historical comparisons but it's a great attack especially for home conditions. They can excel on Australian seaming roads as well as the England/SA conditions with plenty of lateral movement. Australia's batting lineup left first innings runs out there in Sydney as well as...

Are Australia the supervillains of Test cricket?

Wankhede is censored? EDIT : Hahaha

Was 2016 South Africa tour at home the biggest loss for Australia in recent years?

If we are using a handful of failures to defend healthy 4th innings targets/bowl teams out (Headingley, Sydney, Brisbane) to indict this attack, then I'll point out that McGrath/Warne also had a few such occurrences (Lara 153*). Steyn and Philander have failed on a few occasions (against...

Australia also lost a close match to Bangladesh a few years back, didn't they?

    4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

2nd Test in the 47 AO series. A certain Pat Cummins hit the winning runs then I believe. In general your point seems to be true though. Saying that, every team wins and loses some tight ones. We lost a tight one at Edgbaston in 2018. Won here and in Adelaide 2019. Failed in Adelaide 2014...

Why did Paine leave mid off open on that last ball of the Hazlewood over?

    4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

Wikipedia tells me Gill's father is an "agriculturist" (fancy word for farmer?) in Punjab. Plenty of wealthy farmers over there. Not sure why that's relevant at all here though.

Can't see it unless he bowls that magic ball to Vince off a crack which he did a few years back

    4th Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, 15 - 19 Jan 2021

Brisbane is usually roady. I like this pitch though, can't ask for more than a certain result wicket with 369 playing 330 in the first innings. Now starting to play some tricks. But it's hard to assess pitches. Maybe the pitch where Cook and Strauss racked up 517/1 had the exact same...

    Ashwin v Lyon

Smith's a brilliant player of spin. He attacked Ashwin early in SCG and it definitely seemed to put him off his rhythm. No one else in the Australian team is even close to him in terms of spin playing ability (haven't seen enough of Labuschagne)
