The hook shot and Ian Chappell never forgave him.

*Official* New Zealand domestic season 2022/23

Good to see stalwarts like Bevan Small, Smith, Bracewell, Ajaz, Bruce and Cleaver get winner's medals.

Closest might be Cairns in the 93/94 final also against CD at McLean Park. He was run out for 99 and took 4 wickets. Rescued the innings with Stephen Fleming who scored 58 batting number 7...

*Official* New Zealand domestic season 2022/23

Back when Lancaster Park would be packed to watch Hartland and Latham get Canterbury off to the flying start. The final that season when Larsen could only bat using one hand and the season before Wellington v CD, were epics.

Have to say I was surprised Stevenson seemed to be rightly critical of Southee being too defensive on the first day of the 2nd England test after some early wickets. Someone here was saying they or someone they know had a drink with him and were surprised at how much he knew about the domestic...

    Adam Parore

Thanks, will check out the interview. Apparently when Steve Rixon took over he said "Parore is the best batsman in the team, the best wicket keeper in the team, does he bowl?" I think under Rixon his keeping became as good as anyone in the world, although his batting tailed off. In his book...

The interview with him they played during the break where he talked about his love of the Hawkes Bay and the trauma from the cyclone (people's kids scared now when it rains) was unexpectedly poignant.

McMillan definitely came out to Return of the Mack for cricket max games circa 1997. That year Chris Cairns came out to ACDC's Back in Black. Craig Spearman had Macho Man by Village People. Phil Tufnell came out to Cigarettes & Alcohol by Oasis. My favourite was Chris Harris coming out to Eye...

I hadn't noticed Katene Clarke brought up another fifty too after a maiden ton previous game? A lot of up and coming players doing well.

Ben Pomare and Fergus Lellman made their first class debuts for ND last season when they had a lot of guys missing. Quinn Sunde made his debut for Akl and scored a 50 a couple of weeks ago. Lellman is playing this round. Jesse Tashkoff is debuting this round. Wheeler-Greenall has played a couple...

I would also highly recommend Cleaver's Substack for themselves or as a gift subscription to a sports fan (I do the $5 a month although could get $50 for the year). I think he must have been pretty close to giving Henry a 9 like he gave to Kane. Interesting titbit that England players were heard...

I think Young had to open at one stage on the India tour because Conway was unavailable after breaking his hand punching his bat in T20 WC. He did OK and they stuck with him opening when Conway returned for the home tests against Bangladesh and Kane was unavailable. I agree though, it would have...

I think that allowed Wagner to return to the side against England in 2013. He had been fairly lackluster prior to that series but Bracewell's injury created an opening and he performed well

Why did Shane Warne struggle so much against India

He underwent a shoulder reconstruction after the 98 series against India and was out for the following season IIRC. I don't know if he was ever quite at his best against India. His peak seemed to be 93-97 before his shoulder problems? That and India had superb players of spin.
