*Official* Warne vs Murali Discussion

Sure Murali was excellent in other countries but Warne succeeded there too (WI mostly failed cas of playing injured in 99). I concede doing well against India at home as a good point.

We just differ on the importance of not performing in Aus. At least acknowledge it's a hole.
Actually for a spinner, it is success against India. Warne home, away or neutral, Test or ODI, failed against India. There is no denying it,

Average in country (Warne vs Murali )

Australia : 26.4 vs 75.4
Bangladesh : 27.2 vs 19.4
England : 21.9 vs 19.45
India : 43.1 vs 45.5
NewZealand : 21.3 vs 19.9
Pakistan : 28.0 vs 24.9
SriLanka : 20.4 vs 19.5
SouthAfrica : 24.3 vs 26
WestIndies : 39.6 vs 23
Zimbabwe : 22.8 vs 27.5

Surprisingly Murali’s third worst country in terms of average was Zimbabwe

Saqlain had one successful series and one disastrous one against India.
You mean one bad test at home, and one actually great series in India, which is more than either Murali or Warne. Plus awesome against them in ODIs since that matters to you.

Sure, but that's taking all the Warne supporter's premises at face value. I don't think these two numbers are directly comparable. I mean even if you can't quantify the exact impact from better bowling support for Warne, what's the WPM comparison in these matches, and overs per innings bowled to indicate workload?

Warne probably shades the WPM and overs per innings.

On a more serious note.. really makes sense to in the same post ask about wickets per match and overs per innings.
