*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

I really think persisting with Anderson and Robinson beyond the first test is where you guys went wrong. And let’s face it, you should have won the first test even inspite of all that. You cant let 9 and 10 make 65 runs on the last day. Bowling Root was just a phenomenal error.
Didn’t Root just take a wicket? Obviously disappointing that 9 and 10 won the game from where they were but fair play to them, great partnership. That being said we had so many opportunities to put that match to bed or at least ensure Australia couldn’t win. Was as big a gift you’ll ever see in test match cricket.

Whatever it takes!!!
Completely different. And so was any other match you can think of where rain benefited us.

Yeah bowling Root when good batsmen are batting and there are runs to play with and other bowlers have not succeeded is one thing. Bowling Root when you know 9 and 10 are batting and 9 has become a bit of a T20 tonker with only 60 runs on the board was pretty silly. I said at that time too. Stokes should have bowled on, Root should not have.

It's a real shame for the wider game that we won't get a series decider at the Oval.

These series, were you get 2 such evenly balanced teams don’t happen very often.

Often in test cricket, the result of individual tests and series is pretty predictable. If can often be 4 or 5 days to reach the inevitable conclusion.

But this series wasn't like that and it could be another 20 years before we see another Ashes one so hotly contested.

England must wait this out as long as possible today all they need is 1 hour of cricket if it possible, forget about a possible holiday or maybe heading towards the golf course the ashes urn is on the line here.

There's suggestions there might be a break in the rain by 4:30pm but frankly by that point it's probably too late.
Not lying and looks like there will be a break from 4.15 to 4.50 but can't see light improving let alone getting the ground ready

Guys does anyone know why some test matches grounds can use flood lights even with the red ball and some are not allowed where is the consistency by the icc?

Yeah it is rubbish. They are usually good series in England though.

I am actually slightly optimistic that they might not be terrible in Australia next time.

Yeah that was an absolute bottle job by us and ultimately is why we are the ones praying for it to stop raining and not the Aussies

If you think things in England are dark and grim with this weather, wait til 6pm london time when Mrs Burgey lands on the flight from Athens at Heathrow Terminal 5, confronts the BA staff who have refused to forward our bags despite us telling them precisely where they are via our Air Tags, then takes said bags before boarding the 8:30 flight back here.

She’s a formidable human at the best of times.

Isn't Greece sort of, you know, on fire right now?

Oh I’m still in Athens mate. We’re picking up a cruise tomorrow so we had no choice other than to have one of us go back for it. She’s got gold FF status so gets the baggage allowance big enough to bring them back.

Will be claiming the cost of her flights from BA though, given it was their **** up which led to all this. And for the cancelled tour to Sounion we were meant to be going on this evening for sunset.

It is - the weather in Europe is ****ed this summer.

Whilst Southern Europe is suffering record heat and raging forest fires, the rest of us in Europe are having a months rain in 2 days.
