HJ Tayfield 3
ND Hirwani 2
M Morkel 2
Abdul Qadir 2
AR Caddick 2
GA Lohmann 2
Shoaib Akhtar 2

The Mumbai spell was in 2004 defending a low target on a dustbowl.Very interesting that Harbhajan's Mumbai spell in 2001 makes the list. He is known much more for the 4 spells in the following 2 tests of the epic series.
Oh my bad. Mistook it for the 1st test in 2001.The Mumbai spell was in 2004 defending a low target on a dustbowl.

They are from the same match, so the opposition rating is the same. Lara featured in both innings. The 7/120 is rated higher because Vaas took 5 top order (1-7) wickets, whearas in the 7/71 he only took 3.7/120 > 7/71 just because the former included Lara.
Of the one's I have checked, this top 7 from the first test in Johannesburg in 2002 would be very hard to beat:And, what was the best rated batting line up ever to play test cricket?

4th innings batting against Murali and Herath in Colombo. Conditions don't get much morr difficult. I know it was a lost cause, but so was Astle's epic.
