5th Test rescheduled in July 2022.
ECB shafting fans left right and centre yet again by playing the game at Edgbaston. Moving SA Test to Old Trafford.

People who have bought Saturday tickets for SA Test can watch India on a Sunday instead

On top of the test schedule people who paid for India ODIs at Edgbaston can have a full refund or pay the same price to watch a T20i. Some say having paid £85 for tickets!

Considering another T20 WC in 2022, ODI WC in 2023 , who should be the next captain? And what changes should be made to the team .

People like Kohli Rohit Shami Jadeja Pant etc. should be out of T20 team and should focus just on tests and ODIs. Split on Bumrah since he is awesome in T20 too. India actually can have a specialist T20 team who can win the world cup next time.

SKY can be made captain and have Kishan, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, Varun C, Ruturaj, Padikkal etc focus on becoming a strong T20 unit and get the next wc.

Shreyas Iyer, Hardik and few others could be ODI specialists.

Not looking forward to Sharma's crusty, pube-ridden face leading the team to be honest. Besides, I think his days as a white ball phenom are done. He's shifted priorities to batting as a Test batsman should, and rightfully so, but it can't help affecting his batting in the shorter formats.

The side overall needs to have a concentration of batsmen willing to go hard from the outset. Which rules out the likes of Kohli, Sharma, and Rahul. Also a sprinkling of allrounders, so Pandya gets a spot only if he can bowl.

Gaekwad
Shaw
Mayank
Kishan
Iyer
Samson (wk)
Jadeja
Pandya
Chakravarthy
Arshdeep/Harshal
Bumrah

Rahul is more of a white ball specialist than a test specialist. Should find a place in the team over Mayank.

The SMAT starts today. I only care cuz Anshuman Rath is set to make his Odisha debut. If he goes well here he might bag an IPL contract, making him the first Hong Kong player ever to do so.

He counts as a local for the purposes of the IPL (Indian passport), but IDK if he'll count as 'uncapped' given all his ODIs and T20Is for HK.

Whatever it takes!!!
TN defeats Ruturaj led Maharashtra. Rutu made a 50 though. 3D is captaining TN and played a good knock that turned out to be matchwinning.

Good match that.

Also, interesting to see Haryana basically have an IPL franchise attack.

Worryingly, Sundar and 3D Shankar both did not play for TN in the above game. Shankar played the first match at least. But Sundar was supposed to have recovered from his finger injury by now. I am hoping it was not on his right hand.

So the grapevine is that almost all test players apart from Rohit and Rahul will skip the T20I leg of the NZ series. And in turn, I guess Rohit and Rahul will miss the test series against NZ. This, I think, should be our template for T20I line up.

1, Anchor type opener (Rohit)
2. Aggresive opener who is also the keeper (Ishan/Rahul)
3. Anchor cake batsman (Virat)
4. Batsman who can score quickly against spin and in the middle overs (SKY/Shreyas)
5. Batsman who can score fast and bowl (no readymade options - Dube/Shankar were tried - Sundar worth a go in ths role)
6. Batsman who can score fast and bowl (Hardik)
7. Batsman who can score fast and bowl (Jadeja)
8. Bowler who can hit a long ball (Shardul)
9. Bowler who can hit a long ball (Deepak Chahar)
10. Specialist Bowler (Bumrah)
11. Specialist Bowler (Chahal/Varun)

Going by this structure, I guess Rohit, Rahul and Ishan pick themselves. SKY and Shreyas as well. That #3 spot is interesting, but I am assuming we will see Ruturaj Gaekwad come in there. That is 6 players for 4 slots. We will get another 10 for the remaining 7 slots, I think. I am not sure of the fitness of any of the 3 I mentioned there as contenders for this slot. And I think it is likely we will see Venkatesh Iyer slot in here, with Hardik maybe getting one more shot to stay with the side and improve his fitness and see if he can bowl a bit more. Krunal should come in for the Jaddu slot. Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar should be two of the seamers, along with maybe Natarajan who can join Rahul Chahar and Varun as the pure bowlers. The backup fast bowlers could be Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan.

My squad and 11 -

Rohit
Rahul (backup - Ishan)
Ruturaj
SKY (backup - Shreyas)
Venky
Hardik
Krunal (maybe Dube as backup??)
Harshal ( backup - Prasidh)
Deepak
Rahul (backup - Varun)
Natarajan (backup - Avesh)

I feel we can even blank the NZ side with this lineup. We are the bilateral kings*, afterall.

* - Plz dont call it a cup or championship or we will start losing these too.
