*Official Third Test at Headingley* 25-29 August

This is rahane since his 188 vs nz which generally considered kinda the point where his batting started to collapse:

Almost 50 tests averaging 34. Just despicable that he's managed to hang on this long. Maybe his overall average dropping below 40 will be the final nail. Wont be long thankfully.
God we'd take a 34 average from our no. 5 about now.

Edit: YJB actually averages 33.97 haha. Bet it's below 30 over the past few years though.

This is the worst single day asswhipping handed to an Indian team in the last thirty years that I can remember. No salvage whatsoever. Anything else compare to this?

I was thinking this test:

I reckon this day is probably worse. Burns smashed a six ffs.

Downplaying how bad indias batsmen are at playing swing pre series, call us overly pessimistic and then do a shocked Pikachu when india keep getting bowled out for sub 300 every game. I'm surprised Cw hasn't gotten tired of this routine yet good god.

The only reason we semi competed in individual tests in 2018 was because Kohli had an amazing series (with a healthy share of luck) and Bumrah bowled great spells every game. They both look pale shadows of their 2018 versions atm.
Hmmm

Whatever it takes!!!
What a day to bring down all the joys from the last day at Lords. Although, tbf, we were behind on 3 days of cricket even there.

Its very hard for us to come back from here and my worry is Virat's captaincy. It does not work for everyone and I worry he maybe asking too much of our bowlers here. Hopefully the calmer heads around him like Bewda, Rohit and Rahane prevail and we come out with an actual plan, and bowl with some discipline and see if we can keep the lead to less than 200.

Only way india can save this game is keep the lead under 200 then somehow and it’s a big somehow score 375-400 then it would be game on.

shame cause I think he is much improved. has a bit of extra pace and a real toughness and grit about the way he plays.

but he also 100% bemoans asylum seekers crossing the English channel and talks about the 'blitz spirit' as something this country misses now days.
What is wrong with having blitz spirit? Do you know what it means?

This is England's biggest opening partnership since 2016, and the biggest one not to feature Alastair Cook since his debut in 2006.
I was trying to remember when was the last time both openers reached 50. it probably happened once or maybe twice with Burns and Sibley, but I honestly don't remember them managing it.
