*Official* English Football Season 2015-16

Yeah, must admit they faded more dramatically than I remembered then. What a Saffer type choke.
Nah, they were just never that good/got very lucky in the first half of the season. Arsenal 15/16 are considerably better and are currently performing at a level the 2013 side never reached.

What makes you think they're any different from the side that faded down the stretch last season? They haven't gotten noticeably better at any outfield position and have no extra depth.
By phase I meant they are the days of them selling their best players and realistically aiming for 4th are long gone. If they are going to be good enough to win the league we will have to see but this is not the same club of 4 or 5 years ago and there has been pretty steady improvement since then.

Having only just seen the incident, I'd say they probably have a reasonable case. Could probably make the argument that it wasn't even a foul, let alone a red card.

Oh well, couldn't have happened to a nicer team/manager etc...

Arsenal's issue last season was a horrendous start. Unless you're referring to us not finishing 2nd which while disappointing was of very little consequence.

Yeah, we had a couple of disappointing games at home in the last month where sides parked the bus and we couldn't get a goal, but it's hardly the sort of thing that suggests Arsenal can't maintain their title challenge. It was just a case of one of those games, occurring back-to-back.

Tbf Arsenal have had a habit of having these sorts of games, one that stretches back many years indeed.

We were the best team against the bottom 13 sides for both 13/14 and 14/15. I think you can make an argument that Coquelin and Cazorla aren't as suited to play those sort of teams compared to some of our previous midfields in recent years, and that they're better against a high press and in transition. But in truth it's hard to really judge that kind of stuff, as if Arsenal had finished one of their numerous chances in the Sunderland game for instance, people wouldn't ever look back at it and think it was a problem. Fine margins etc.

Their performances in Europe suggest they still have a game management problem. But they're clear second favourites to a team that, while better, has some key players with a history of getting injured a lot.

Ah then yeah, I would agree. They are definitely not the same club that sold Fabregas, Adebayour, Nasri, Van Persie et al in the space of a handful of seasons.

Not finishing second is what I was referring to, yes. They had a hugely impressive middle of the season and they almost had me believing in them, but they finished with a whimper. Finishing second may not be of consequence for a squad who consistently finish in the top 2 but Arsenal haven't been that side for a long time. I mean the last time they did so was 2004-05. Finishing the season properly and storming home would've been a line in the sand moment for them, and I definitely wouldn't be doubting their credentials now if they had done so.

We also have a history of just not showing up for several games in a row. I mean I don't disagree that Arsenal fans should be confident, I just don't think they have it in them. Maybe they do, time will tell, I'm wrong about things all the time.

I always knew Rooney wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but now I know why he seems shot at 30. I didn't know he was smoking, eating junk food and turning up to training in slippers.

Smoking and junk food and done at 30. He must be reading the How to be a Pro footballer 1970 edition. And now he is done at 30 like many were back then.

It really grates that he's also slack on the training pitch. That's not what you expect from the highest paid player in club history. What an example to younger players. I hope LVG has the stones to do something with him. Although he seems more concerned with Depay right now.

Who told you he is doing that?
