I always said Siddle would play this test, but in a side with Marsh, Watson and Lyon, what the benefit of 'running in all day' is over Haze has always been a bit beyond me. Interesting to see Bing and Warne start saying exactly the same as I type.

(makes me doubt my own sanity frankly)
Thing is, the reason it used to be a CW joke about Siddle "running in all day" is because it really was just a stupid cliche by stupid commentators. Sure he was more durable than many other Aussie quicks, but he actually took wickets just as regularly as anyone. Nowadays isn't an issue of Australia not needing his type of bowler, it's more just to do with the fact he hasn't bowled very well for the last year or so.

I feel bad for Siddle. There's no way he's deserved the **** he's copped over the years because he's a bloody good bowler but he's been poor for a while now.
Shows Ryan Harris highlight reel.

Doesn't show his greatest delivery ever.

Good job channel nine.
not watching, but do you mean the one that swung in then seamed away that owned Cook?

It also masked the fact he was a very skilful bowler at his peak, who didn't earn 190-odd Test wickets simply by 'running in all day'

But the thing is, he possibly earns himself an extra run in the side through lean times by appearing to do exactly that.

Harris, Johnson, Patto/Cummins and Twatto is an attack made of glass. I know Hazlewood has had his problems too but not sure what his recent record is like.

An attack needs someone who can bowl long spells and not break, otherwise you'll end up overbowling your twirler. Siddle at his best takes lots of wickets and bowls lots of overs. So valuable.
nah being **** until T20 cricket saved him is why he isn't an ATG
Well yeah he used to suck but he's been world class for years and only managed 25 tests.

marsh performing the intended role of siddle better than siddle, and at a decent pace to

tom cooper is actually pretty close to the test side ftr, he's played a few A games, he'd be in the second string top 6
