Ben Dunk's 3 50's this season is probably enough for him to get the spot left vacant by the question mark. There is Aiden Blizzard stuck in Futures too. With the Tassie team, I doubt I'd play Rose with Doherty all that much. I like Rainbird so would include him with Gulbis in the mix, but probably 12th man. Bird of course would come in when fit.\
TAS XI:
1. Silk, 2. Cowan*, 3. Doolan, 4. Cosgrove, 5. ???, 6. Paine +, 7. Faulkner, 8. Butterworth, 9. Rose, 10. Doherty, 11. Hilfenhaus
??? to be someone who isn't Jonathan Wells.
VIC XI:
1. Quiney, 2. Finch, 3. Maxwell, 4. Handscomb, 5. White, 6. Wade*+, 7. Christian, 8. Hastings, 9. McKay, 10. Holland/Herrick, 11. Ahmed
I don't care about the miracle 40. Boland can piss off for a while. Too many spin options with noted bowling all-rounder Aaron Finch at the top of the order, hence the potential for Herrick to replace Holland.
With that team you would have to play Ludeman, even at 8 behind Botha. I haven't seen all that much of Lawford so he might be the quick instead of Zampa, but I like Mennie.i'd go Hughes, Klinger, Head, Ferguson, Cooper, McDonald, keeper x, Botha, Sayers, Putland, Zampa/Quick depending on team balance/McDonald's bowling capabilities.
I think that Pews would select Hogan in a full strength WA and would take particular delight in leaving out Coulter-Nile.
???Agree PEWS would be likely to leave NCN out, and would like to add that he'd give Turner a starring role.
I guess I thought incorrectly, who would make your WA team????
I like NCN. Have said so many times over the last couple of seasons. Reminds me a bit of Mark Cameron, and we all know how I felt about him.
The Hopes thing isn't in jest at all. The perfect sort of guy to just fit in wherever at this stage of his career given the number of different roles he's had across his career and his declining claim to his own regular spot.A team made up of your ridiculous/out-of-the-box/'in jest' ideas would make interesting reading. Hopes and Hauritz opening with a Watling-ed Hughes in the side. What would the rest be?
Hogan, Johnson, Coulter-Nile and.. probably Agar at this stage, but I wouldn't be afraid to bring in Beer or Turner for him at all. I'd think about dropping a batsman for Turner at some of the away venues this season too given how the pitches the played, how Agar has batted, the fact that Johnson and NCN can bat etc but at home it would definitely just be NSW-ing, especially with Mitch Marsh in the side.I guess I thought incorrectly, who would make your WA team?
you wouldn't. and lawford would be nowhere near my team. With that team you would have to play Ludeman, even at 8 behind Botha. I haven't seen all that much of Lawford so he might be the quick instead of Zampa, but I like Mennie.
Riggins, who would you pick to keep? Definitely in a better position to make that call than any of us.you wouldn't. and lawford would be nowhere near my team.
WA really are a hard team to pick and after another poor start to the year, I expect some changes. I'm not sure though if JL will just go for a youth policy or try and pick the best XI always to attempt to gain some respectability.Hogan, Johnson, Coulter-Nile and.. probably Agar at this stage, but I wouldn't be afraid to bring in Beer or Turner for him at all. I'd think about dropping a batsman for Turner at some of the away venues this season too given how the pitches the played, how Agar has batted, the fact that Johnson and NCN can bat etc but at home it would definitely just be NSW-ing, especially with Mitch Marsh in the side.
I know Duffield has a few fans on this forum (social in particular I think?) and he's started the season okay but he doesn't really do a lot for me. Johnson will miss a lot of cricket for WA this season though (in fact probably all of it from this point on..) so he'd still have a place.
Based on his pretty ****ty fielding I would say he isn't.Yeah, I don't think having Head keep now would be a great idea either given he seems to be finding his place as a batsman, but if he was a genuinely natural keeper and saw himself as such it'd be worth considering. Bowls too tidily to be a real keeper though IMO; always a good measure. Wade is a great example.
